I need some help and support as I embark on this great adventure. I have a weight condition with a sweet tooth like you couldnt imagine. I am a 37 year old male and I am 6' 1" tall. I would have to guesstimate that I weigh somewhere in the neighborhood of 351 to 375 lbs. I've attempted to get an accurate weighin but have not found a scale that goes above 350 lbs. I have an addiction to any type of food that contains sugar. Whether it be in liquid or solid form makes no difference, if it contains a fair amount of sugar/sweetener, then I crave it. And more often times then not, with little to no quilt whatsoever about what I have done. I have attempted to seek medical help by asking my primary doctor if he could recommend me to a nutritionist and was told that I dont need one. The solution is simple, all I must do is push myself away from the table. Thin people do not understand. If it was that simple not one of use would be overweight. I searched for a solution and assistance and came across this site by chance. I spent a few days and several hours to browse and read others success stories and the support offered towards one another and I feel this is a fit for me. So I joined and led me to type this introduction letter which tells a little bit about myself. My goal weight would be 225 pounds. It would be almost a 150 lb weight loss but with a little push and a lot of support I feel I could do it. I havent been that light since around 1994. I plan on starting my diet in two days. Friday morning I shall set out on my journey and begin my induction stage. Tomorrow evening I shall go to the grocery store and purchase the necessary food that will put me on the right path. I am full of confidence and look forward to begin. As I progress I will help others and lend support where needed. I need to do this for me. I believe Atkins will be my obsession and i will do everything possible to make this diet a success. Would be nice if I reach my goal by the time of my 40th birthday,(which is 26 months away). I am open to any and all suggestions. Thank you for your time. Please be patient. God Bless, Joe

Re: Hey all
Welcome aboard!!! ADBB offers excellent support and I can't get enough of this place! You may feel like 150 lbs is a lot, but once you start---the cravings will go-(only takes a few days--really
) and you'll be super-hyped when you see the scales change. You may feel bad the 1st couple of days, but if you hang in there just a few days--you'll feel so much better. Honestly, this is the easiest "diet" ever-(and I've been on a lot of diets). More than anything, I love and appreciate the fact that it teaches you a NEW WAY OF EATING--A NEW LIFESTYLE. Sure, we can lose any number of ways--and I have, but the problem was keeping it off-(always gained it back, + some. I want this extra weight gone--and for good!! Congratulations on making a wise choice!!!
HAPPY LOSING!!!

Re: Hey all
Good morning Joe & welcome to ADBB! You've found a place of support, encouragement & knowledge.
Do you have a copy of the 2002 version of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution? I you do that is fantastic. I you don't do yourself a favor & get a copy. This is the version that people on the board refer to. Read the book & keep it handy to refer to.
Also take your measurements so that you can keep track of the inches you lose. Also take photos for a visual journal of your journey to health!!
Ask questions here & post often. Start a journal in the journal chats section. Check out some of the challenges that are going on & join a few. The Century Club has a great challenge starting very soon. Here is the link:
