  • Saying hello from the Uk

    Hi everyone
My name is Nicky, I'm 35 and I live near London with my husband, 3 kids and our westie, Milly. I also work full time for Local Government with people with learning disabilities supporting them into employment.

This is my first time on Atkins and I am loving it! I lost 9lb my first week and it was so easy! I must admit I wasn't expecting much after trying WW multiple times, SBD, which did work the first time I tried it, Slimfast and all kinds of low fat diets. Nothing worked properly, I would lose a bit, but it would be so slow and so much hard work just to lose 1lb that I would give up and go back to old habits.

I have followed induction to the letter and it has really paid off, I think as I have quite a lot to lose I will stay on induction for a month or maybe 2, just to kickstart my body. I'm also planning to exercise daily, starting with 30 minutes walking the dog a day. Once I have lost about 30lb, I am going to start back at swimming, as it is my all time favourite exercise.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you and sharing the highs and lows with you all.

Re: Saying hello from the Uk

Welcome to the board Nicky! Although it isn't bad to stay on induction for a while if you have a lot to lose, don't be afraid to move up to rung 1, it isn't so scary. I am on the nut rung because I wanted to add more fats and I think I am going to hang here for a while.

Post a lot and join some challenges. The more involved you are the more likely you are to succeed! My being accountable to someone other than me really helps me stick to my commitments.

Thank you for making me feel at home
I am so happy with this new way of life, I have now lost a total of 12lb, feel so much more energetic and I can actually sleep at night and wake up feeling refreshed. It is so life changing!

I think I will join a challenge, I am not very good at keeping to an exercise plan, so anything that keeps me motivated would be great.
