I my name is Trevor I am 29myear old male who is a food addict. I quit smoking I quit drinking. But I can't seem to get off the burgers and ice cream. ToniteI weighed myself and I hit 241. I feel bloated all the time I just feel terrible. Well I decided that I have to do something, so here I am, maybe with help from other people that are going through the same thing as me I can change.

    Re: hello

Trevor, I have done Atkins before and it worked--especially for guys. I am new to this board too. My husband always loses twice as fast as I do. Hang in there--the first two weeks are the toughest but if if you tackled quittong smoking and drinking you can do this too. Good Luck!

      Re: hello

Hi Trevor. Jill is right, you can do this. If you haven't read the book, Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, edition 2002...then I totally recommend you do. It will give you motivation and help you form a plan to make your goals. You don't have to give up the burgers...just re-invent them the low-carb way. I use lettuce wraps instead of bread. Using lots of spices helps to keep your food exciting and tastey as you learn to change the habits that make you gain weight. (Check out the substitution forum for finding ways to continue eating the meals you love ... but without the high carbs)

Make a plan. Figure out what foods you crave and whats going on in your life when you are tempted to eat them. Then, devise a plan for what you'll do either by changing the way you prepare them or finding alternative things to do other than eat. If you are eating between meals then it could be thirst instead of hunger. Exercise and drinking water helps to keep you focused on your weight and not on feeding emotions you are feeling. You can do it. Keep posting here, make lots of friends and enjoy your new way of life. We're here for you!

        Re: hello

Hello there Trevor! Nice to meet you. Awesome decision on your part to join this board... and of course, to do Atkins.
It'll work well for you, I'm sure. I'll ditto all Becky's (dreamof..) advice, especially on reading the book. The 2002 edition is the one the board goes by as it was the last one written by Dr A before his death, so hasn't been "interfered" with.

        Happy losing!
