  • Time to Change My Ways. (28, lazy, fast food expert)

This is officially my second round of Atkins. The first was very effective as I went from 215 to 195 in 5 months. That was 4 years ago and I'm now at 230. Considering that Supersize Me could've been filmed from the passenger seat in my truck for much of the last 4 years, 35lbs isn't too bad of a gain.

But 230 lbs is the most I've ever weighed and I've drawn the line this time for real. I'm 6'0, medium build, the most exercise I get is golf in a cart, eat fast food an average nearing 2x per day, and at 28 yrs old I'm ruining my body and my future health at the precise time that I should be in my prime. Plus I look terrible!

I started Induction 14 days ago today. I admit I was dreading it, but I'm so happy with myself for finally doing it. The food options are better, I know what I'm doing, and my wife and I are both much better at cooking.

I'm down 10 lbs to 220 and actually had someone at work mention that I looked thinner today. He didn't even know I was dieting! That was nice.

It's been so wonderful to have hunger gone for the most part. I wake up a little hungry, barely notice when lunch time is anymore, am ambivalent to what I eat for dinner, and generally don't crave anything. I've decided to try to keep it simple for a while and avoid seeking much variety. If I just eat more of the same things over and over then I spend less time thinking about food which helps me fix my main problem: love of bad foods and overeating. Psychologically, I have to make myself see food in a different light. Period.

I ran today for the first time and am even kicking around the idea of a gym. Hopefully I'll be reporting back in 2 weeks talking about consistent exercise and another 5-10 lbs gone! I have my mind right. I'm optimistic.
