  • Ready to get my life back!

    Hello Everyone,

I am doing Atkins. I had great success the first time I did this in college and was feeling great and healthier than ever! Unfortunately, I eventually went back to my old ways and the weight crept back on.

I am thinking that I would like to lose about 40-50 pounds. My highest weight was 225 and my lowest weight after that was 170. I am currently 192 pounds and on day 5 of induction. I am down 5 pounds already!

I just want to be able to be consistent for once in my life. I just am so afraid...I am afraid of success and afraid of failure too. I am trying to tell myself to take it one day at a time.....Here I am!
    Our lives are made
    In these small hours
    These little wonders,
These twists & turns of fate
    Time falls away,
    But these small hours,
    These small hours still remain.
We'll get by, It's the heart that really matters in the end

Hi LUV4 7TH!! Glad to have you join us. It is scary at first to commit to a new way of eating, living and thinking, but as you practice this WOE, the fear is replaced with a feeling of power. Take it one day at a time ~ babysteps.

Develop a plan that is right for you, one that you can commit to. Educate yourself on what you need to do and put those practices into the times and ways that you can make it a part of your life. Exercise when it is best for you, start slow and build up. Research recipes and choices in your food that you can live with comfortably. Do it for you. You are worth it. We are all here for you and want you to become involved in the challenges, forums and journals. You can do it. Welcome!!
    Starting Date 3/12/04 285/165/145 - F

Dedication gives wings to our dreams and keeps them in flight! In One Word...COMMITTMENT.

Thanks for your encouraging words, they really do mean a lot, you are right I really do have to take baby steps or else I will quickly become overwhelmed. I even dreamed last night that I ate some froot loops and yelled out.....OH NO! THAT HAS CARBS AND SUGAR!!

I will try to get involved in the challenges and stuff, but I am trying to figure out where to start. There are so many things to get involved with on the board...I am trying to still navigage my way!

You might want to check out the 14 day induction forums as it has numerous posts on starting the program and understanding how to do it, the dialogue of the board and developing your own style so you can make a plan that will work for your life-style.

Best wishes. We're very happy you joined us. Don't feel overwhelmed...just keep moving forward and improving your meals, techniques and making friends here.

I'm new to the board too, but I want to welcome you and encourage you.

What dreamof145 said about a feeling of power is so true. Every day that I get under my belt with this program, just cements my decision not to undo the work I've put in so far. A feeling of power is an accurate description.

I'm happy for you that you've made such an important decision, and you're following through.

All the best to you on your journey!

Welcome to the board! I'm a newbie as well. This place is great. The people are such great people: they're so informative, supportive, and such great role models! I love this place even though I've only been here like 5 days...haha.

One of the things that really helps me stay on track are the things I put in my signature. Everyday I look forward to update how many days I went without cheating, I look forward to having my ticker get closer to the goal, and I look forward to update my stats.

I also make sure I log on at least once a day so that I'm living and thinking Atkins. It really keeps my mind in the game.

Anyway, welcome to the board! Good luck and Stay Strong!

                Creek, Irish and Joe,

Thank you so much for your true words of inspiration! I really, really appreciate it! You are right about logging in at least once a day, that keeps my mind focused to know that I am on the right track. As I have said before, this journey for me is mental as well as physical. I feel afraid of the unknown, but I guess that is the beauty of it all, again thanks so much!!!
