Hi everyone. Well, my story is similar to others that have lost the weight and gained it back and want to lose it again. In July of 2003 I weighed in at 272 pounds. I am 6'1. Well, the diet went without a hitch, and by December of 2003 I was down to 180. I eventually got down to 170 by January 2004. I was staying at that weight until about May of 2004 when I got married and started eating too much NYC pizza amongst many other high carb foods. Well, I never stopped eating the carbs or the high fatty foods, and I am now back up to 240 lbs. I have tried to start the diet over the last few years, and I go on it for about a month, and become sick of hamburgers and I always go off of it. The first time around I basically only ate hamburgers and cheese sticks and drank about 200 ounces of water a day. I also would eat the Advantage bars which helped keep me sane, I ate a ton of sunflowers seeds, so much so that at my office my coworkers hung a bird feeder by my desk with sunflower seeds in it. Well now I have incorporated other types of low carb foods into this diet and I plan on eating burgers only a couple of times a week, along with some grilled chicken breast, beef hot dogs, hot wings and cheese sticks. So I'm now 5 days into this diet and have been going hardcore, unlike a lot of others on this forum I only weigh myself once a week because you can get discouraged if you weigh yourself everyday and for a day or two not see a change, or even go up a pound. So come Monday night I will give you an update on the weight loss and eventually post my before pics. I will also post my after pix from when I lost the 100+ pounds the first go around. Thanks for reading and I'm psyched to lose the weight again. God Bless.

Re: Doing it again for the last time
Hello, TiredOfHamburgers
Welcome to ADBB!
My friend, the first thing that jumps out at me when I read your post was the fact that you don't eat veggies. That's not Atkins. This board follows the 2002 version of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR for short). Dr. Atkins outlined a very specific plan for this WOE (way of eating), and was very clear that at any given phase of Atkins, most of your carbs should come in the form of non-starchy veggies. Atkins is LOW carb, not "NO" carb. Have you read the book yet?
I think that the idea of weighing only once a week is OUTSTANDING! Good for you... it's easy to become a slave to the scale, but it truly is a very poor indicator of fat loss. I liked watching watching clothes that used to be tight, become too big. That's motivation!
Here are a few links that you may find helpful. The first one is to a site that a lot of us use for recipes, and the others are for popular places on the board. Here you go:

One last thing... it would be great if you could add a few stats to your siggie, so we can know a little more about you. You can include stuff like, your gender, your age, your starting weight, your current weight, and your goal weight. You do that by going to the blue bar at the top and clicking on "Quick Links", then clicking on "Edit Signature". Easy!

Re: Doing it again for the last time
Thank you for the warm welcome. Yeah I have read the book amongst other books dedicated to the diet. My problem is that my whole life I haven't eaten any veggies. Don't like em. I do take an all natural veggie supplement that I get at the health food store. So I weighed myself today and I lost a lot more than I though I would, but I think it is because I was sick with a stomach virus for the whole weekend, but hey whatever helps the process
. 1 week down and a lifetime to go.

Re: Doing it again for the last time
Search the recipes for veggies. My husband also doesn't care for veggies, but he's eating them and liking them now. Don't forget you can put cheese on them. I hope you can acquire a taste for them.
