  • New to Atkins - Induction (day 2)

    Hi All,

My name is Rose and I joined Atkins due to the success that a couple of co-workers have had on the Atkins diet. I want to lose 20/25 pounds. While I have not set a goal date, the sooner the better, lol.

I gained this weight over the last 2 years. I had a heart rythmn problem (SVT) and I started taking beta blockers which slows your heart rythmn down and makes it almost impossible to exercise (your working against the med). Anyway, I had a cardiac ablation on Feb. 11th of this year and I no longer have a heart rythmn problem and I'm no longer on beta blockers. It is time now to shed this weight.

I started Atkins Friday, April 25th and I have and will follow the induction, I must admit my headaches are terrible...I do have a low tolerance to them and I don't get them but maybe once a year.....now it is day two of a constant headache. I'm a big sugar/sweet eater and maybe since I've cold turkey the sweets, my body is adjusting....does that make sense?

Anyway, that is my story and any one that can help or encourage me doing this challenging time, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks,
    Rose

      Hi, Rose

      Welcome to ADBB!

Sorry you have had such a bad headache. While I never got them, it really is common for people to get them while they are de-toxing from the carbage your body is used to having. Once the headache leaves, you won't believe how much better you will feel. Try to keep your Induction a clean one - the sooner you can rid your body of the toxins, the sooner you will feel better.

This board is HUGE and has so much to offer. Here are a few links to get you started. The first one is to a site that a lot of us use for recipes, and the others are to popular places on this board. Good luck to you!

Welcome! I'm new here too. Just wanted to pass on that I woke up with a headache on my second day into induction. That day was the worst and then it sort of eased off in the next few days. I'm on day 12 now and have absolutely no headache. In fact, I feel great. Just give it a few days and you'll be feeling much better. I think you're right about the headache being a withdrawal symptom from sugar. Stick with it! You're doing wonderfully!
