  • HALLO!!! NEWBIE FROM CHICAGO HERE!....well not exactly...

Hi guys, I'm a newbie here on the ADBB. I'm Tim, male 5'4 190lbs and sick and tired of being so conscious of my weight, so I actually thought about doing something about it this time around. Although not really a newbie in the atkins diet, its my third time around doing it. My first time was a success, i lost all of the 30 lbs and then some to get down to 135lbs. I kept the weight off for almost 2 years, then i started gaining back some till i got to 175, then decided I was getting any skinnier duh! so I went for my second try, on the session with atkins i found it hard to lose weight it seems like my body got used to it already. I didn't lose much during the induction as I did the first time. only managed a measly 10 lbs, during induction and a week on OWL, I was disappointed, and that made me stop the diet and went on bingeing till im now 190lbs . But a week and two days ago I started again, within the last week while searching the net for atkins stuff, I stumbled across this site. I read alot of the threads realizing that I'm not alone in this situation. I know right now my progress is the same as my second time....slow as a turtle. Does any body know if the body gets used to this diet that the metabolism slows down in burning fat?

    Welcome to Tim!

You're certainly not alone as many people notice that weight loss is slower on subsequent attempts. The combination of poor eating habits pre-Induction and the multiple attempts at weight loss do have a slowing effect on the metabolism. This isn't a phenomenon unique to Atkins, but an effect of yo-yo'ing on any plan. However, all you need to do is stay the course and follow the plan to the letter as Dr. Atkins formulated in New Diet Revolution 2002 edition and the weight will come off.

All the best on your weight loss journey and if you need anything please feel free to give a shout!

thanks for your support Jace, WOW on your progress from start to current! Congratulations! Thats amazing!

As for the Diet I have been staying on it as stringent as possible, although my guess is the reason for my slow progress is the effect of yo-yoing on diets left and right, so now I figure like you said that my metabolism was a little bit compromised.
