  • I'm Back Again!

Hi everyone!. Well, it's been a few months since I've been here and a few months since falling off Atkins. My first try with Atkins was great. I had lost 14 lbs in the first 2 weeks - My start weight being at 145lbs. I kept that 14 pounds off for quite some time. I kept my diet lower carb and found that I was unable to get lower then 130lbs. My whole young adult life I had been at 120 pounds and that was also a time when I worked out and lifted quite a bit of weight. I was at my healthiest then. I think being 40 certainly changes everything a wee bit, but not to say it cannot be done with more effort this time around. I was nieve to think it would simple drop off and I'd be as fit again. Not so.

Anyways, I've gained about 8 lbs back and that has only come back since I've started to incorporate a bit of pasta, rice and treats into my diet. :-(
Okay, I'll be honest, a bit of treats every day... that bad habit starting to form again.

What's MOST important tho, is since going off Atkins, I've had my blood sugar issues again and I have to say they are worse then they were before i started Atkins. Atkins actually leveled my Hypoglycemia . Im more tired , have little energy and every day the last 2 weeks I"ve some sort of symptom of low blood sugar. It's the higher glycemic carbs that it appears my body just isn't dealing with as well as it was before.

So this time, I realize it has to be more of a lifestyle change for me for life. (not that I didn't think so before...I just didn't live up to it). Experiencing my downs, low blood sugar symptoms and sleepiness is my proof that Atkins has health benefits for me in the long run...as well as the weight loss!

So here we go....start date is tomorrow morning

One last thing.......I quit smoking cold turkey about 3 months ago!!. I'm doing great, and will never smoke again. I forgot that I even used to smoke. We're ready for the next stage of getting healthy!

Congrats on quitting smoking! Welcome back & it is great that you have realized this is in fact a lifestyle change! Also remember that the closer you get to goal the weight comes of slowly. Follow the process as outlined by Dr. A & you'll get there!!
