  • Induction Day 1 and an Introduction

    Hi everyone!
Just wanted to pop by and say hello, as well as introduce myself. Today is Day 1 of Induction for me, and I'm very much looking forward to getting solidly on plan.

I'm actually coming off of another low carb diet, so the shift to Atkins isn't likely to be as "traumatic" to me as it is to those completely new to low-carbing. I lost 16 pounds over the last 10 weeks on the Lean for Life program, which is low carb and low fat.

While my low carb experience runs the gammut (I also have experience with South Beach and a PSMF plan), interestingly enough, I've never tried Atkins. Exactly why I'm not sure. But I think it has to do with the fear of fat so many talk about.

My past experiences have shown me that I lose better on a ketogenic diet than a nonketogenic one. The challenge for me has been that those programs I have tried have all been low fat. And, to be quite honest, a low fat, low carb plan just isn't so sustainable for the long haul. I can make it for about four weeks, and then I begin craving fat (salad dressing, mayo, etc.) So I have finally decided to give Atkins a try!

I have about 60 pounds to lose and am really aiming to do so within a year's time. My husband and I have been married for just over a year and a half and we are beginning to think about starting a family next year. I would really like to get down to a healthier weight (I have some low back problems) before I think about getting pregnant, and I want to establish a healthier lifestyle overall. I hope Atkins and my involvement here will help get me there.

I look forward to getting to know you all and want to thank you in advance for your support and encouragement.

    Jen

Welcome. I think you'll find you can live on Atkins for the long haul. I haven't been on it long myself but I can see it being easy to live with.

Welcome Jennifer! I'm new here too and have also had experience with South Beach and I think this is a better choice for me (and hopefully you .) I'm looking forward to getting started. Anyway, nice meeting you and good luck!
