When you read a post, look in the upper right corner -- see that little scale icon? If you like what you've read, or you want to give someone kudos for what they've done (or what they've said to another person), you click on that scale. A little box comes up to type in a comment, and it gives that person a rep point. Those points accumulate, and you also see them in the upper right-hand corner each time a person posts...Comment
