  • Just saying hello

I've done this before, and lost a lot of weight. Quick story - I was working a heavy labor job and moved to an office job. I ballooned up to 250 lbs. I am at about 225 now. My goal is 190 lbs. I find I can make it up to around 10 induction days, then I have a carb relapse. Hopefully this board can help with that!

    Re: Just saying hello

Welcome. This board has totally helped keep me motivated! The people here are so friendly and helpful!

It's amazing how your life can change when you go from extremly active to not at all. It was the same with me. All through high school I played sports, road my bike EVERYWHERE, played with my siblings, walked to and from work, my job had me on my feet all day, etc. Then college hit....... I slept, ate, went to class, slept, and ate. Now I'm working at a job where I sit all night.

Good luck on your journey and keep us posted!!

Yeah, I sit all night too! I used to load freight at a big box retailer on the night shift, and I could get away with eating like a pig. Now I make much better money, but I can't eat the way I used to.

          Hello Piper

When you say you have a carb relapse, do you mean you end up eating it for no reason or are you attacked by cravings?? If it is cravings, then you need to check out your menu, there is something in there messing with your blood sugar levels etc.

For sweet cravings take one capsule of L-GLUTAMINE and they will be gone!. I think I read somewhere that being in Ketosis prevents us from being hungry or having cravings - so if you are on the 10th day and been in ketosis all along - you really shouldn’t feel a need for carbs. Trust me, I have been super fat for the last 8 years with a boring and slow night time job! Every single night I would volunteer to do the Mc Donald’s run for apple pies and fries! Also I am a very emotional eater. Eating sweet and carbs was my only therapy, so I know about cravings.

Atkins is the only barrier I have ever had against these cravings / dependency - and thank god! It is still going strong!

If you don’t feel a physical craving but just miss the taste or are bored with your menu, there are a few recipes (verryyy easy ! trust me !) which taste sinfully good. Today I made cauliflower pizza! It tasted so good that I felt like I had cheated my diet! I actually tested with a ketone strip because I was sure this couldn’t be diet food. Then things like Mock Danish, cheese crust etc are seriously yummy!

Write to me any time and I will be glad to help you out. Also the best thing I learnt from Induction is to ‘be prepared’. Always keep a snack handy and know what you will be eating the rest of the day today and early tomorrow, that way you can stock up on the ingredients beforehand. You don’t want to be hungry and then have nothing that is induction friendly. Also if you violate your induction, you might feel too guilty or depressed to begin again.

Best of luck dear !!!. Hope to see you ‘after’ pics soon!

I usually get craving anything with bread or pasta - Especially pizza. I'll try the L-GLUTAMINE when this happens. Thanks.
