    God I hate being on a diet.... I just hate it! I wanted to start by saying that just to get it out here and so I can quit ******** about it!

    I'm a 38 female, live and work on Long Island. I have 2 beautiful kids, (13,soon to be 14 year old twins, boy and a girl)

    I was successful with Atkins about 7 years ago, lost almost 70 pounds, and kept it off for about 4 years. Somewhere along the way I fell back into the same old horrible eating habits and the weight went right back where it was. I woke up this week completrly digusted with myself, wanting a change and ready to do it.

    I started yesterday 5/17/08. I didnt weigh myself, didnt measure. I need to go out and buy a scale and tape today, thats the thing about being fat, you dont need a scale when you know you are over 250 and a size TIGHT 22. I cant stand it!

    So here I go! I look foward to meeting lots of you, offering support and motivation if I can, and looking for it when I need it.

    I have a question...
    Can I drink coffee????
    If I put sweet and low with half and half in it and have 12-18 oz a day will it harm the diet???
    I dont want to give it up, but for the love of skinny, I will......

    Please advise

      Some people drink coffee & others totally give it up. Per Dr. A coffee is a staller for some & he recommends giving it up. Also per 8 oz of coffee has 1 carb in it~~make sure you count that carb. Also 1/2 & 1/2 has 0.5 carbs per 1 Tbsp~~~make sure you count that carb. Dr. A also recommends Splenda vs other artificial sweetners.

      Also I would lose the diet mentality & think of this as a way of life. Do you have a copy of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution? The board uses the 2002 version to refer to. If you have the book reread it! If you don't have it do yourself a favor & get it!

        and welcome to the group these are some really great people here
        if you need any help please feel free to drop me a note or if you just want to rant and rave
        and yes you can drink coffee i use splenda and heavy cream sometimes i add vanilla flavoring just make sure you count the carbs
