  • Final Round

I am attempting Atkins once again. During past attempts I would quit after minimal success. I guess I just wasn't losing the weight as quickly as I would have liked to. Someone reminded me the other day that I didn't put all this weight on over night and it is not going to disappear over night. I am going to do Atkins this time and this will be my final round because this time it will become a WOL and not just another diet I am trying. My primary reason for wanting to lose weight is I am wanting to get pregnant again, and two years ago when I had my son he decided to show up 3 months early. I constantly blame myself and keep telling myself that I would have listened to the doctor and lost weight before getting pregnant or exercised during pregnancy then maybe that would not have happened. So I am wanting to lose weight before attempting pregnancy again. I have only partially followed Atkins in the past and saw some loss, but I am wanting to do this right and see maximum loss. I want to do it right and only lose the weight at a healthy rate. Any advice is welcomed with open arms. This is going to be a tough road and I am glad I found this site. I have been browsing for about a week now, and just now decided to give it a shot. I am starting today.

Welcome! Welcome! Welcome! It seems like a big hill to climb, but I take comfort in knowing it wont be months of effort with no reward until the end,.... you are going to feel better in one month, two months ... all the way through! Biggest advice would be breaking your goal down into smaller goals, and what your reward to yourself will be...you already have your big goal at the end planned... but it helps to put those motivating goals in between! Good luck!

I agree with Desihue. Start yourself a journal. List what you eat, and your activities. Take photos of yourself from front view, side view, and back view. Don't forget the face! You will see a big difference in your face as well.

Try to make mini goals for yourself, rather then one big one. I try to go for at least 10 pounds a month. ( this is my third time on Atkins, starting June 1st, and I WILL stick to it this time!! ) I find that making mini goals for yourself, motivates you more. Try to take it 10 pounds at a time.

Keep us posted! There's tons of support here!!

It is amazing how so many people on this site have similiar stories that involve weight loss goals..I too am trying to lose weight and wanting to become pregnant again. I am on day 12 of induction and and down about 8 lbs. I have 2 children that were concieved using fertility treatments, due to PCOS which also has to do with being overweight. It is a hard struggle but you can do it. I dug through my kids old clothes and pulled out my favorite newborn outfit and keep it in the corner of my kitchen counter(sounds corney) but I use it as my anchor, when I feel like cheating I pick it up and reflect and it reminds me of my goal. And I can honestly say that i have had an easy induction so far. So good luck on your journey...

You know I never thought about that with the outfit. I guess I will have to try that since unfortunately I steered off course. Major caffeine withdrawals and gave up. Although I was just aiming for caffeine I had evil thoughts and wound up aiming for all carb loaded favorites.

I really want to lose weight for several reasons with pregnancy being a big one, but I just can't seem to find the motivation that I need to stick with it. Any suggestions

Planning a family vacation next weekend and I feel like if I work hard now and lose weight then I will blow it on vacation and ruin everything I worked hard for. I know this is something I have to do, but I am having a hard time getting started.

Thanks for everyone's support and motivation. I am going to sit down and figure out mini-goals, take pics/measurements, and start a journal. Oh yeah and start again.

                Re: Final Round

Thanks everyone for such a warm welcome. I finally got around to starting a journal on here and am trying to stay up-to-date with that. I restarted on June 1 after a minor lapse in judgement where carbs are concerned. I am still struggling with the Atkins flu and can't wait to get over that and move on to that burst of energy everyone keeps talking about.

I really need to get around to posting before pictures, so I have a visual of my progress.

Will try to keep up to date....

                    Congratulations on your weight loss.

2 days - no cheats... gotta keep going looking ahead and what can be instead of thinking that there is no way I can do this. I can't wait for it to get easier.
