  • Newbie with a question

Hello again. I joined back in March but then my 10yr. relationship ended and I guess I wasn't really up to worrying about doing Atkins. Since then I have lost 24kgs. [what's that in pounds I'm from oz lol]. It has been hard work and now and now I seem to have come to a screaming halt so I think it is time to get back on the horse so to speak and give it my best shot. I am a type 2 diabetic who takes tablets as well as insulin so I am a bit worried as to what to do if I get a low which I often do at night. What can I eat if this happens. I have talked to my Dr before about doing Atkins and he said to monitor my sugar levels and adjust my insulin to suit. Is there any other diabetics doing Atkins that could give me some advice as to how they manage their ATkins and their diabetes together. I hope to be able to get off a lot of my meds as I lose my weight.
Well sorry for the long winded intro, I am looking forward to getting to know everyone and learn how to do this new way of eating from you all.
    Cheers
    Wendy

Hello and welcome back to Atkins and the ADBB! Congrats on your 24 kgs (which, btw, is 52.9 lbs) lost already. That's terrific!

Atkins is a wonderful way of eating for diabetics. I reckon you'll do very well on in.

You might like to ask your question in the diabetic forum, where you stand a better chance of getting expert and more specific replies. Here's the link:
