    I've been a luker for a few months, but I've decided to contribute as I should.. I begain the Medifast diet back in Mid January 2008 and did a month and a half and lost 25lbs. My start weight was 296, I begain the Atkins diet at the Beginning of March and I'm down to 262. My goal weight is mid 180's..

    I have a question this might be the wrong forum, also I've done a search and can't find this answer-- Does Caffine effect Ketosis. I seem to keep going in and out of Ketosis yet I'm definitely keeping under 20 carbs and avoiding Aspertame.. Any diet soda I drink consist only of a Diet Rite. I usually have eggs for Breakfast, tuna/chicken salad for lunch, snack is usually pork rinds and a lean red meat or chicken and a cup of Broccoli for dinner.. It's driving me nuts because I average a minimum of 4-6 miles of a brisk walk per day, lots of water and no carbs yet I've been at 265-262 for 3 weeks.

    Hi Brubble What makes you think you are out of ketosis? Bear in mind that the ketostix, if you are using them, will have different readings different times of day. Looks like you are losing fine!!

      guess I was thinking because some days they'll be a med to moderate purple then later that same day or the next morning they'll read negative... I'm definitely losing, but I've hit a plateau yet I'm working out a lot more, drinking the water and staying under the 20 carbs.. I guess I'm just feeling a little frustrated but, I'm more motivated now then ever...

        Keep in mind that muscle weights more than fat, so if you're working out a lot more your body is building muscle. Also caffeine is a known staller for most people. Welcome!

          thanks it's just tough for me to give up the coffee, I'm only having one med/lrg cup a day black.. As for working out, I'm not really doing the heavy lifting right now it's more like I'm walking between 4-8 miles a day.

            Hi brubble, sounds like you are doing great! The 25lbs. you have lost are behind you and worthy of celebration. All the walking you are doing is creating muscle. You will continue to lose so keep on this WOL. Congratulations to your past achievements!

              Are you eating enough veggies? I see broccoli listed & then chicken/tuna salad~~~what does that consist of? You should be eating 2 cups from the salad list which is quite extensive & then 1 cup from the other veggie list. It may also be time to think about moving up to OWL~veggie rung which is 5 more carbs. Check out the forum & all the sticky notes!

                thanks for the info guys and gals, I'll do more reading after one more week on the inducation phase again I'll move on...

                As for the veggies I'd say I've been eating Broc.. the most however, I've not been good with the Salad veggies..
