  • DontWantToDie

I think my name says it all. At 29yo I have been diagnosed with high BP and need to get back on the wagon. In 03-05 I lost a total of 90lbs on the Atkins. Fell off the wagon due to (insert excuse here that we all have) and returned to my orginal weight of 330lbs. Over the course of the last 6 weeks I've lost about 10lbs making slow changes. My goal is to get to 180lbs so I can see my 3 month old daughter win her 1st LPGA tour championship and dance with her at her wedding. Overall I'm a 'healthy' guy, rarely get sick, cholesterol, blood sugar etc all checked out great at my physical 4 weeks ago, it's just that darn BP (160/85). I usually don't post much on BBs but I'm sure I'll hang out a lot.

    Thanks for the great BB.

Thanks. I look forward to checking the boards and tracking my progress. I will probably continue on Induction for at least 3 months then slowly move to the OWL so I can try to maintain the lifestyle. I need to fire things up with the induciton so I can see some results to really help motivate myself.

Welcome to the board, Joe ! I wish you much success!

Do you have Dr Atkins' New Diet Revolution 2002 (DANDR 2002)? If not, you should check it out from your local library or treat yourself to a copy (try Amazon). It's an invaluable resource and provides great motivation.

This board is great for information, support, and motivation. Keep coming back. Read lots and post often.

As long as you stick with the plan you WILL succeed and all the visions in your mind will be realized.

The best piece of advice I can give someone is to PLAN. Plan ahead of time what you are going to eat for meals/snacks. Cook things ahead of time so you have yummy dishes that are 100% legal that you can enjoy without any guilt.

              See you around the board...

Welcome back to Atkins Joe and to ADBB The healthiest life style there is.
This is a great BB, lots and lots of support. Start a journal, join some challenges. A great way to meet people and make new friends. I once was a Type -2 Diabetic with high blood pressure. Atkins reversed both. I no longer require medication and Atkins controls them now.
You'll be dancing with your daughter at her wedding and enjoying your golden years.
Wishing you great health and lite.
                  Sincerely, Sherri

                    Re: DontWantToDie

Joe you signed up on ADBB and wrote your first posting here because you want to live and live well. That is pretty clear to me. Also, I have to say hat's off to you for losing 90 lbs. That's like double what I have done, and not too shabby compared to any of us here.

As two 'second timers,' you and I know know that if you do a strict and proper Induction (aka by the book and yes I know that was redundant), you will be on your way. After weeks of not really starting properly, I just truly started Induction on Saturday, and I am making progress. BTW, I'd appreciate any tips you might have when I stall out around 30 lbs. from now.

This group has the best people. So hey even though you are not a big BB person - neither am I - you picked a good one.

                    Cheers!

PS: Congrats on your first 10 toward 180. My goal weight is 188 so we will be in the same weight class.

Thanks for the welcomes everyone. My only advice Gman is when you get that carb/sweet craving head to BurgerKing and get a bacon double cheeseburger with only mayo (remove the bun & it's 2 Carbs), for some reason it always crushed my sweet tooth/craving.

High blood pressure is serious business, a lot of people don't realize how dangerous it is. You have some great reasons for getting down to business with your weight loss so bring your A-game and lemme see you meet your weight loss goals. Be careful with your exercise, keep your heart rate with in a healthy range, working TOO hard is not a good thing. It's ironic that I read your post because I'm in school and we're studying about this very thing. I'm not saying you have to move at a snails pace but when you see the words "check with your physician before beginning any exercise program" PLEASE DO SO.
Congrats on the first 10 pounds
