  • Hello to all!!

    Hi!
My name is Erin. My husband and I have started the atkins diet this week. He has been on this diet once before (before we were married). I swear there is something in wedding cake that makes you gain weight. I used to be the girl in high school that could eat anything and never gain any weight. After my husband and I got married I started gaining weight. Just a little at first, then after 5 years it really added up.
We have tried Weight Watchers and had done well. But then we became guardians of my husband's teenage brothers. And for some reason teenagers don't want to eat brown rice and chicken all the time. Go figure. So here we are. Lots of good intentions but no results.
I'm open to any advice or good induction recipes.

    Re: Hello to all!!

    Hi, Erin

    Welcome to ADBB!

Yay! I LOVE to read that hubby will doing this WOE (way of eating) with you!! That really does make things so much easier. I'm proud of you both!

This particular board is based upon the 2002 version of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR for short). Please read this book as soon as you can. Even if hubby read it a long time ago, it would be a good idea for you both to read it again now. Doing Atkins correctly involves a very specific process, and it is important to understand it.

Now, how about you (and hubby, too, if he wants) add some info to your siggie, so we can get to know you a little better? You can put your age, height, starting weight, current weight, goal weight, and the date you started. This will help us, to help you, if the need arises. You do that by going to the blue bar at the top, and clicking on "Quick Links". You then click on "Edit Signature", and add your info.

This board is huge, and there is a wealth of information, motivation, and support available. Take some time to explore... there is something for everyone.

Here are a few links to get you started. The last one is to a website that a lot of us use for recipes. Good luck to you both!

      Re: Hello to all!!

Welcome Erin, Glad you have joined us! Atkins is great when you are cooking for people who aren't doing it (I assume your husband's brothers aren't joining!). For me I just make a small portion of potatoes or rice or something for the evil, not at all fat, totally fit, high metabolism man in the house () but other than that I cook exactly the same thing for both of us. Usually a veggie and meat of some sort.

Read the book and look around here for any questions you might have! You can do this!!! Good luck!
