  • Introduction of myself

Hi, I've been over-weigh all of my life but managed to lose 70 lbs when I was in my early 20's. I went to a weight loss cliinic and lost 40 lbs. The other 30 I lost after moving to another country and trying to get acclimatised to the weather, food and life-style. Eventually I gained all of that back and more due to an illness.

I've lost 35 lbs in the last few years using Atkins and kept it off. I also exercised and used the principles from "Fit for Life". From time to time when pounds creep back, I always lose them again.
The problem is I find it hard to get below 200.
Now that I'm over 40, the yo-yo dieting has caused my metabolism to slow down. I joined a gym last September and am extremely happy about that. I work-out about 3 times a week. Though I have not lost any weight from the gym, I still feel good about myself and love to use the exercise machines and attend aerobic classes and body pump. I also love using their spa when I get a chance. I'm just sick and tired of being the "over-weight health concious"
    gym member.

I joined another paid weight loss center with a friend in January 08 and lost 7 lbs in about 2 months. The program was much too expensive and when my friend who is 7 years younger than me was losing gobs of weight and would always call after her weigh ins to report how much she had lost, I became terribly depressed thinking that something must surely be wrong with me! My diet counselor at the center urged me to "eat more of the recommended foods". One thing for sure, taking the meds they administered, I could go on a binge and NOT gain a pound! I finally figured out that this was not getting me anywhere and I had learned to "beat the system" at my own expense. I quit the program much to my counselor's dismay.

I would like to lose at least 30 more lbs to be healthier. The doctor says that I have a condition called glucose intolerance therefore losing weigh for me is super hard.

Now I really need motivation from you to keep going. This is my 10th day of induction.

Hi Wilsondikoko Nice to meet you
Atkins sounds like the ideal diet for someone with glucose intolerance. have you got the 2002 version of the book? Thre is a section in there on just that subject.
