I am not new to Atkin's, but I stumbled upon this site and thought I would join because it looks interesting and informative.
My name is Alex and I was born and raised in sunny South Florida-- I'm 22 years old and a senior at Georgetown University.
My weight in high school was average---but I danced ballet, so it wasn't up to dancer standards. I stopped working at my catering job and for whatever reason without really trying, I started losing weight after I graduated high school before going off to college--getting down to 105 from 125lbs.
Unfortunately, I underwent some things that I had to take psychotropic meds for, which are notorious for making one gain weight. I gained 35 pounds in less than 4 months and was devastated. I had never weighed so much ever- I hated going to the beach or going out, and I had to buy new clothes because hardly anything fit.
I would fluctuate between 130-140 for the next two years, until finally I took Atkins seriously, and lost 25 pounds to a comfortable 115. Very, very happy! And I kept it off until once again, life's up and downs forced me to take meds. Within 6 months, I gained the twenty-five I had lost the previous year, and then some to an all-time new high, 145.5lbs bringing me to the edge of overweight.
My weight and appearance are very important to me, especially because I dance. Atkin's is the only thing that works for me, and I'm hoping to come out successful again. I have also declined taking meds and focusing on alternative methods for my ailment.
I am 5'4, hoping to lose 30 pounds- I'm currently Day 8 in the Induction Phase and have lost 7 pounds thus far, which is exciting! 23 pounds to go!
