    Hello....

    Hi,
My name is Rach, I am mum to 3 fab boys, 5yrs, 3yrs and nearly 3 months. This is not my 1st time 'doing' atkins but hopefully (unless hubby agrees to #4) my last.

1st time round I lost 28lbs or so and was able to get pregnant (I was diagnosed as PCOS and had no periods at all)....after my 2nd son I lost 54lbs and nearly hit my goal weight, cheated and gained about 7 lbs and then became pregnant again and went totally of hte wagon....of carbs and calories!

I bf all my boys, my eldest until he was nearly 4 (although after about 2 it was just morning and inght with occasional day time feeds), my 2nd son still bf's at night, bfore bed and at other times occasionally and my youngest is totally bf.

My eldest was born in hosp, naturally, my 2nd a natural homebirth but my 3rd was a planned homebirth that ended in a C-section (he was an undiagnosed breech)...I have found it harder this time, all the limitations on driving, lifting etc and also my stomach and pelvic muscles have totally dissappeared...plus I feel much worse about my weight and fitness.

I have decided I need and want to tackle this rather than feeling c**p and using a chocolate or pork pie then feeling even worse! Plus I had loads more energy eating low carb and my boys are active!!!!!
I have 60lbs to lose. My hubby is going to do the diet with me and also has 60lbs to lose.
    Wish us luck :0)

I live in the UK and I love reading and scrapbooking, making jewellery, making cards, cooking, making jams and chutneys(which I guess I'll have to stop )...I'm planning on making the gym a hobby too!!!! I like going for walks with the boys and my sister is a swimming teacher who is trying to get me to go swimming but putting on a costume is a bit scary let alone letting people see me in it!

      Re: Hello....

Hi Rach! I think it's great you have your hubby doing this with you!
Anyway, you don't have to give up making chutneys....just how you make them. Mine have gone from fruit based to more veggie based with fruit "teasers" and using erythritol or sweet perfection as sweetners. Anyway, low-carbing a recipe can be a fun challenge. Re: Hello....

Thanks :0) My mom and dad have also decided to follow a low carb diet (mom just holds stuff out when she's shopping and says-can I have this? We got some funny looks round the supermarket, me, 3 kids and my mom asking me "can I have" not the kids
I'm going away to google the sweetners you mentioned as I'm in the UK and often we don't have stuff that's available in the states.
        take care,
        Rach

                Re: Hello....

I've just been looking around on the internet and found some sites which say in the UK you shouldn't subtract the fibre from the carbs to get to the net carbs and others which say you should....any idea which would be correct for the UK??? Or where I might find out?

Thanks We'd both lost 4lbs this morning since starting on Monday which wilst probably water still has a feel good factor.

I agree C-sections are not fab at all....I was/am pretty disappointed as it was going to be such a fab birth, I didn't need the midwife I only called her as she was going off shift and really wanted to deliver me....guess it was for the best though as he was a bit big and the mw's were so not confident about a breech delivery.
