  • Hi

I started about 2 weeks ago. So far I'm down about 11 pounds. I figure I'll stay on induction until I get down below 200. I started at 223. Anyways a questions I have is how bad is it if I cheat one night for dinner. My fiance is going crazy b/c we can't eat the stuff we used to eat together. I don't want to cheat often, but once a month would be helpful for her. I think the diet is harder for her than it is for me!
    223/168/170

    Started July of 2008.
Hit my original goal of 200 in 2 months.
Hit my altered goal of 180 in 4 months.
My max weight goal is 175 and Im trying to keep between 165 to 170.

    Re: Hi

Hello BFGarner: Congratulations on your first 11 pounds lost. Though, it sounds to me like you are already giving up before you even start. You are already planning how you are going to sabotage yourself. It is like if you go to war and you are planning how to ambush and kill your own soldiers.
Tell your fiance to relax and support you on this new commitment. I am sure that she will like the results much more than the food you currently eat together.
Be proud of yourself and show the world that you can make it. Imagine how good it is going to feel when you can finally fit in all those outfits that you have seen before but never dare to even try them.
I have been teaching my fiance about this diet, and even though he does not need to diet or lose any weight whatsoever he is trying to be supportive or at least to respect what I am doing.
So, please, do not start the diet already thinking how is the best way to cheat!!! Believe in you and in your goals.

    Big hug from Panama.

      Re: Hi

Wow...don't even really know how to respond as it is just wrong on so many levels. So excuse me if my answer is all jumbled.

Cheating will kick your body out of ketosis and will put off you losing weight for at least 3 days....MINIMUM! Why would you want to take a WOE that has let you lose 11 pounds in 2 weeks...given you more energy than before and mess it up for 1 night of putting the refined foods back into your body when there is so much good food to eat? Why does girlfriend need you to eat junk with her once a month? She should be supporting you. Why would she go crazy because of what the food is? Is she insecure in your success? You may want to talk to her about her feelings. Your relationship should not be about the food. Instead why not take her out for dinner once a month (you could order a steak...caesar salad...hold the potatoes and add extra veggies..check what they are first) that way she gets a date night once a month. And maybe you could even cook for her once a month too. Both things she that should like and appreciate and it also enables you to stay on plan. There are recipes in the forums here and I have a never ending one in the induction forum and Linda's site is great. http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/index.html

        Re: Hi

Quick question if I may, why are you already thinking of cheating?? Do this for yourself not nobody else. You are doing this for you, so stick it out and go for the gold. Good luck. God Bless, Joe

          Re: Hi

wow.....i'm like Elsie, i really don't know how to respond to this, but here goes..........

first off, what exactly is she wanting you to eat? is it pizza or chicken wings? there are so many great recipes on this site and on the link Elsie gave you for both of those things.

secondly, instead of going out, just like Elsie also said, fix her a dinner at home that you could both enjoy.

thirdly, try to get recipes or make up your own that closely resemble what you are craving but only use legal food choices allowed on this woe. for example, if i'm wanting a hamburger and fries i use Jicama for my fries, then make oopsie rolls and fry up some hamburger patties. i get what i'm craving and i in no way ate something that was not legal.

here's the link to the oopsie rolls: Low Carb Examiner - Want Supple, Gluten-Free Buns? - Examiner.com

you have to remember that you are in control of what goes into your body, not your fiance. there should be other ways to make her happy and not destroy all the hard work you've done trying to become healthier. why does your relationship need to revolve around food anyway? the love you have with each other should be stronger than the food choices you make.
