  • Day One and hoping for some changes..

hiya boys and girls. im james and im sitting at around 312lbs. im 6'2 and 21 years old. im thinking id like to end up around 210lbs so im going to work my butt off and do this thing right. im looking for as much advice as possible though because im pretty well the biggest procrastinator that there is. i work late nights and my claim to shame is snagging the fast food at 2am and then crashing. hence, throwing on the poundage over the last couple years. im now making enough money that i can afford the clothes i want to start buying, but i cant fit into them, and i want to get myself in good enough shape to enjoy my youth. so here it goes, day one, of many. any hints would be fantastic. wish me luck

Don't be afraid to tell people what you want.

Everytime I eat people are always saying what else they can give me. Im perfectly fine staying in the rules, but people will bombard you trying to "help" you. Often times this "help" is carbs that you don't need.

Also take your measurements. I didn't, but I wish I knew what I started at.

Also weigh yourself once a week at the most. If you can hold off do it once every two weeks. Weight fluctuates too much day to day and it gets discouraging if you dont see weight loss every day.

Try to avoid soft drinks. Some people will say they are fine and others will say the cause a stall. Even though Diet drinks say 0 carbs, they may not help you out. I used to drink 5 Cokes a day. I havent had one since I started. Water is enjoyable now.

Finally Bacon and Cheese. Many people start out thinking you can eat everything as long as it says 0 carbs. You should limit yourself to 3 slices of bacon and 3-4 ounces of cheese per day. The bacon has sodium nitrate and the cheese well I have no clue why, it's just from my research.

    Anyways good luck!

read Atkins 2002 edition...that is the book we follow here. Read the stickies in the main forum and the induction forum. Read the book again. NO CHEATS! Help others in the forums. You will learn so much that way. Drink your water. Exercise. Read the book. Eat your 2 cups of salad veggies and 1 cup other veggie every day! The list is in the book and in the stickies. Read labels on the food you buy looking for hidden sugars. And last but never least....read the book!

Hello too much of me Have you got a name planned yet for when you succeed at getting to your goal weight????

Keep legal munchies on hand for those times a "need" hits, and feed yourself something healthy. Keeping a bowl of cutup veggies, hard cooked eggs, precooked wings and ribs and maybe some dip on hand will see you through some anxious moments.

290 lbs. on 11/02/07 Goal: 145 lbs. or size 14 whichever comes first!
