    Hi Everyone!

    This is the first time that I have signed up for a support group and I am very new at it and somewhat shy but here it goes.

    I have done the atkins diet before and successfully but I always fall back into abnormal eating and then a depression that accompanies the weight gain.

    I used to be an athlete and slick and slim so after I hurt my back and stopped working out the pounds just kept coming on.

    I am now on day three of Atkins and have not yet strayed. I am rather proud of that as the first week is always the hardest (but wish I could see some results even if it was only 1 lbs!).

    I have not yet measured myself or anything like that but I can say that I weigh 168 lbs! That means that over the last 10 years I have put on 43 lbs and have really struggled to keep them off.

    I am hoping that this will be my last attempt at Atkins and with your help and support hopefully can make it a permanent lifestyle and keep the weight off for good. By the way losing the weight for me is not only for aesthetic reasons but also because I need to get weight off my back and need to get my blood pressure down as its pretty high.

    I am excited about this website as I have been living in Kenya for 6 years and we just don't have good internet access there. I have recently moved to Austria and its great here just like home there is great internet access and getting your support and being able to support you too is a big step in the right direction. My goal weight is 130 lbs.

    Wish me luck guys and I wish all of you the same. I hope I can be just as much support to all of you.

        Thanks guys! I am still on track. Each day counts. Just a question. How do you get that ruler at the bottom of your messages that tracks your weight loss? I have no idea how to get it.

          Welcome and good luck with your resolve.

          To get a ticker click on the link at the top of the page. Go to 'Start Ticker Creation'. From there it looks fairly easy to do.

          (I haven't done this yet but that seems to be the route to take)

              Thank you for your support. It really isn't easy though. I have been doing atkins since Monday without breaking it once and here I am in day 4 and I have not lost a bit!!!! To top it off since I am in Europe I was weighing myself on a kilogram scale and was converting my weight to pounds. Now I found that my scale has an option to change to pounds so I changed it and now I weigh 171!!!!! Really very discouraging.

                Thats Why I Do Not Weigh Myself So Often Or Soon Because It Gets Discouraging Stick To The Plan And Weigh Yourself Less And On One Scale. Like Every Two Weeks Or Every Month. I Am Doing Every Month Because In The Past I Obsessed Over It And Got Discouraged When I Did Not See What I Wanted.what Really Matters Is The Results Example Clothes Fitting Looser Etc Four Days Is Too Soon To Track Anything Down Give The Body Time You Can Do It. Quite Frankly You Wont See Drastic Results Results In Four Days Give It A Few Weeks Stick To It And You Will See

                  HEY!! Welcome! Wishing you luck on your new outlook on life! Glad you wer able to finally get internet connection to join us! Austria, huh!                     Thanks! It really is a struggle but I am trying. I have not broken it at all since last monday. You should come to Austria and visit. It would be great to hang out with another atkins dieter. Its lovely here but I travel so much I have not had any time to make friends and when I am overweight I just don't go out at all. So come visit!!!!!!!!! If you need time to plan it out I will be in my new apartment in October so welcome!

                      Thanks that is good advice. I have to admit I am obsessed with the scale. But I always have been. I will try to limit my weigh ins to once a week. Although I will struggle after a couple of days. Here I am in day 8 and I have only seen a 3lb loss. I am hardly eating vegetables and am truly sticking to the diet. This week I have decided to give up the coffee and diet coke. Lets see if that can make a difference. How are you doing?

                        I Was Obsessed With The Scale Before Too Now I Do Not Even Think About It All I Say Is I Can Wait Till Goal Time Which Is The One Month Of My Starting Anniversary.giving Up Soda And Coffee Will Make A Big Difference You Will See Eat More Vegetables Do A Clean Induction Don't In Take Soda And Coffee Until After Your Induction. I Know It Is Hard But Try. Soda Is Very Bad For The Body So Definitely Cut It Off Its Addicting Too Think About Goal. Try Sticking To The Specific Plans Of Induction Do Not Try to Freestyle When You Do Esp Right Now You Won't See Drastic Results Just Keep That In Mind I Look FoRward To Hearing From You.im Great Today For Me Is Day 5 I Am Going Strong Exercising Everyday And Having A Clean Induction I Will Continue Lol Judgement Day For Me Is August 10th Which Is My 1 Mth Way In Until Then I Will Continue To Work Hard To Achieving That Dream Body.                           You aren't really doing Atkins if you are not eating veggies. This is crucial...2 cups from the salad veggie list & 1 cup from the other veggie list. Have you read the book? The 2002 version of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution is the last on Dr. Atkins wrote himself & is the one that is recommended. Here is a link that includes the veggie lists per Dr. A.

                            Thank you too for your comment. I have read the 2002 edition of Atkins and also the one prior. I pretty much know the book inside and out. its just that with my other attempts at Atkins seems like my system has slowed down. i used to do the diet to a "T" and in the first two weeks I could lose 10 lbs. Now I can't seem to lose much at all so I was giving up the veggies as Dr. Atkins describes in the weight loss resistance chapter. But doesn't seem to be working either. i think I will start eating more veggies anyway I love them so its hard to give up both veggies and fruits. Its hard to know what to do anymore. I think this support group is great and really helps. Thanks again for your comments! I see you have made great progress. Great job!

                              no problem hun stick to it the clean way and watch as your body transform you can do it.
