Ok, so I have finally decided to stop making excuses for my weight gain over the years, and instead do something about it. Over the years I have seen my weight go from 130 lbs (at age 17) to 207 lbs (age 33) as of yesterday. I look back and can't believe that I've gained 77 lbs, but I have. Since I stand at only 5'2", 207 is a heavy load for me to carry. Anyway, I've started Atkins today, and I'm off to a good start. My goal is to loose this weight by May of next year, which is the month I'll be graduating with my second degree. I chose to register at this site because I really liked the honest, yet encouraging nature of the forums. I will also be posting some progress pictures, as I've found them encouraging for me as I browse the forums.

Re: Finally decided...
You will find great support and advice on the boards here. Welcome to a new life. I am so jealous, you will be in One-derland (under 200) in no time. And it is smart to do it now because when you hit my age (47) there are hormone issues that make this so much harder. Glad to have both of you newbies here.

Re: Finally decided...
GOOD FOR YOU! That's right. You are in control. You should find that you made the right decision and it gets easier as you go. The weight you'll lose and the great feeling of better health, should be enough motivation to keep you going. At least it has been for me. Welcome to the community and even more so, welcome to the beginning of becoming a whole new you! Best of luck!

Re: Finally decided...
Hi there fellow 5'2'' person. Congratulations on starting. There is something magical about Atkins I think. Just follow the yellow brick road (also known as the rules for this Way of Eating).

Let's catch the Atkins train to One-derland!
I remember in Boston going from the city back to take a flight out of Logan Airport, being on the Blue Line to Wonderland which was the last stop on the Blue Line. lol240/231/198
