  • Hello all

    Hi everybody,

I have come here to introduce myself. My name is Michelle, and I am from Sydney, Australia.

Mine is not a very interesting story, I have had two children who are now 7 and 10, and since I had them, struggled to lose the weight.

I lost 20 kilos (44 pounds) over the last couple of years, but am now stuck stuck stuck! on the last 10 kilos (22 pounds), which may not be a lot to some people, but it is to me.

It doesn't matter how much exercise or dieting I do, I just can't move it!

So this is my first try of Atkins, and have been doing induction for 3 days.

I decided to try this forum to get some help and suppport from people who are doing or have done it, as it is not such a big thing in Oz, not anyone I know anyway!

Look forward to getting to know you all.

    Michelle

    Re: Hello all

Hi there and thanks for posting your (very interesting) story! Good to have you join us.
Congrats on your 20 kilo loss... that's awesome! Now we'll see if we can help you with the last 10 kilos.

My advice would be that you make the move to OWL (ongoing weight loss) pretty soon after completing the two week induction. You need time to move up the rungs and find what foods might be triggers for you. You also need time in owl to find your CCLL/CCLM - critical carb level for losing/maintaining). Don't be afraid of OWL, you still lose... and many actually lose more on the first couple of rungs.

Post lots and keep us updated as to your progress. We're behind you all the way!
    Before and after:

                  Hi Michelle,

Good job on your first three days! The hard part is over... now it's just a matter of finding which foods are your vices. I think you will find this is a great program and a great forum to give and receive help. If you have any questions, let me know!

                    All foods are my vices!

In all seriousness, today is day 7 for me, and I stuck with it.

The first 3 were really hard, and I had the headaches, but they were gone by Sunday.

I felt quite queasy in the stomach on Saturday, but the reality is now I feel great, and the first time in a long time that I'm not starving in between meals!

I have lost 2 kilos (4.40 pounds), I am not sure if this is just water, but I don't really care!

Thanks to the forum for all the reading and tips I have been getting..

                      Michelle,

Hang in there, you can do this....motherhood is a blessing....and your story is fabulous.

Every pound is important...each one is one less you have to worry about...

Heck...I am still trying to lose my baby fat.....and my baby is 25! So you are doing great...just think where you will be when your baby gets 25!

                        Re: Hello all

One of the beauties of Atkins is that when you are hungry, you should eat. You should never feel starved. If you do, it just means you're not getting enough fat in your diet. Must make sure that at least 60% of all the calories you eat comes from fat (and 35% from protein and 5% from carbs) and that you are eating a bare minimum of 1500 calories a day to fend off that nasty starvation mode. A good program to help you track your calories, protein, carbs, and fat is fitday.com. It is my best friend!

                        Stay strong!
