  • I am keeping on keeping on....

I first began Atkins in Oct. of 2003 at 181 lbs. I was starting to see some health issues pop up, including my knees hurting, blood pressure getting high, really bad blood sugar swings and bad skin and I just felt awful.

I got down to 143 within about 6-7 months and was very small and very fit as well.

I kept the weight off for about 2 years and then after adopting our daughter gained weight to the tune of about 165.

I have had to restart Atkins several times over the years. Each induction a reminder of why I love low carb even when it is tough to do when our carb loving society tells us it is bad to do Atkins or tempts us with sugary, startchy sensations.

I am still at it, in induction again and watching my skin clear up, my head clear up and my energy go up up and away.

I find reading this forum and doing fitday each day keeps me motivated and going strong. I still read my DANDR and find new things each time...it is crazy. I have found over the years that I have insulin issues which is why my skin reacts so well when I cut out sugar and starchy food. IT IS AN AHA MOMENT for me A BIG ONE, they just keep coming!!!

I love this place and plan to keep on keeping on....

      Shellie,
You are truly an inspiration! It's great to see you joining us here! I know what you mean about the skin issues. Just before I started Induction I had been seeing a dermatologist monthly to try to get my skin issues under control. I was just about to go on Accutane as a last resort and now, only a month later and I simply don't need it. Just some residual dots that appear to also be dissipating.
      It's amazing!
Keep us posted so we can share your success!
