  • Hi, newbie

Hi, my name is Kimba and I thought I was three days into my 1st attempt at atkins. However, I've been eating almonds. So today is day one for me.

    I am:

    24 years old
    5'5"
    187 current weight
    my goal weight is 135

Can anyone tell me about belly fat loss on Atkins? I have developed a Buddha belly/beer belly from college. I am to embarrassed to post the measurement of my belly. Have you noticed belly fat loss? Honestly, I care about loosing weight all over, but the belly fat is not only ugly, but a huge indicator for possible long term health issues.

This board seems really supportive. I'm excited to join!

    Thanks

    Kimba

    Re: Hi, newbie

my guy and i are doing the program together, and he has quite the belly from too much beer as well.
we were looking at him in the mirror this am and after 4 days he's already starting to lose the bloat!

generally i find that the first place i want to lose weight is the last place it goes.. lol.. but hang in there and make sure the read the book!!

      Re: Hi, newbie

There are no exercises you can do where you can pick and choose where the fat will come off from. Your body will choose which fat deposit it will take the energy from. So the only real way to get rid of belly fat is to just lose weight in general and it will gradually come off. You can do situps/crunches or any abdominal exercise, but that will just increase and tone the muscle under the fat. The original fat in the stomach will still be there until the body chooses to use the fat from it.

Thanks for your replies. I've just started exercising and I am reading the Atkins book. I'm trying to be patient (as it has just been 1 day lol), but reading all the success stories gets me so excited for progress. These next two weeks are going to be interesting.
