  • Atkins changed my whole lifestyle 4 years ago and now I am back!

    Hey all!

I wanted to introduce myself and say hello. I am 28 and recently married! I live in Cali, but husband and I are already planning on moving back to Colorado as soon as we can. First off, I first 'learned' about Atkins when my lil bro did it about 4 years ago and had great sucsess. I then jumped on the bandwagon and lost 20 pounds. Not only did I look and feel great, but my whole lifestyle changed. I am hypoglycemic and cut sugar out about 5 years ago (never looked back) and since doing Atkins, I cut out soda, coffee, sugary drinks, etc as well as changed my whole eating habits. By actually looking at the labels on food, I was sHOCKED at the facts on basic every day foods. I maintained my weight for years using low carb pasta, whole wheat bread, lean meats, etc. I also got really into working out and living in CO made me an avid snowboarder and mtn biker. Over the past 18 months, the 20 pounds have crept back up, mainly b/c I gave into the 'low fat' craze. It may not work for everyone, but I truely belive for my body type the Atkins is the way to go. I counted a typical day on low fat and was astounded at the amount of carbs!!! So I am going BACK to the Atkins lifestyle, starting with the induction phase.

Right now I am 5'7" and 179 pounds and into a comfortable 12. I know that sounds like a lot, but if I could be a comfortable 8, I would be soooo happy. So I guess my goal is around 145-150. I am athletic, so this is good for me. I was 145 in HS and wore a 7 juinors, so I think this is good

    happy non-carbing!

Congrats for seeing the low carb light... it is a brilliant light that will lead us all to success if we behave ourselves. IT IS A MIND THING... understanding the plight of a highly refined diet and the dangerous health implications is what has changed my approach to eating, and shopping...

All the best and hope your a skinny minnie soon...
