I’m Mel. The week of July 4th I bought myself yet another women’s magazine- this one had a cover proclaiming- “You can lose 16 lbs in a week!”.
I’m a life-long dieter, lifetime member of Jenny Craig & veteran of every crazy fad diet there ever was, etc., etc. Of course I had NO choice but to buy that magazine.
Luckily, the diet inside is a low carb plan- but true to my nature I needed to research everything and learn all about it, so I started online with the expert on Low Carb, Dr. Atkins…
July 6 I got my usual cup of morning coffee and sat down at the computer to find out more about this ‘crazy’ low carb angle- which in all my years of trying, I’d never tried!
I was absolutely stunned to realize I had 17 grams of carbs right there in my cup of coffee! (fat free creamer & honey) I had an epiphany right then, realizing that I was probably ingesting 300-500 grams of carbs every day- holy cow! Literally, lol.
Anyway, that’s when I went to the bookstore- carefully avoiding the Starbuck’s inside- and got my book… since then I’ve been researching, learning & just doing it! I lost 5 pounds the first week, and then put the scale away until next month, as I’m a horrible addict and will weigh 10+ times a day if I let myself.
I’ve been amazed at how easy this is to do! I find myself at almost 2 weeks now and liking it!
My clothes are starting to have slack where they used to be stretched tight, my rings are spinning and I feel really good. I can see this will be a new experience of living, being healthy & enjoying life, both for me and for my family.
I’ve been enjoying lurking, reading through the forums but figured today was my day to step forward and really join the group. Thank you so much!
