I started the induction phase today.I was browsing the internet to see all the different info on the Atkins diet and ran across this forum and decided to join.I figure there is strength in numbers.I am sure I will have a ton of questions in the future. But for now my biggest question right now is what kind of snack food is available other than pork rinds and celery? I want to do this right.I am finally serious about losing weight and working out. I have a great life and I am looking for the only thing that I don't have right now.And that is the body I had 15 years ago.

If you don't have the book already, it is important to get it and read it. The 2002 book is what this site goes by and it will answer most of your questions. It is also a handy reference and explains how the diet works. Check out the induction stickies here on the board. They will help too. Induction is very limited to help you detox and break the sweeth tooth. The stickies and the book wil tell you exactly what is allowed.

        Re: Newbie

Hi and Welcome! Congrats on deciding to better yourself and you have come to the best place for questions and support.
Yes! Definitely get the book. You can get it on Amazon for less than a dollar!!! Once you read the book you will have a much better understanding on what you can and can't do and what you can and can't eat. We also have a "Review My Menu" forum here in which you can get the opinions of seasoned Atkineers on what you decide you want to eat. Also, join FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal, so you can enter in what you eat and see the values of it.
As for snacks, some of the things I keep on hand are hard boiled eggs, Applegate Farms Hot Dogs (organic, nitrate-free, sugar-free), yes Pork Rinds, cold cuts (but just make sure they are sugar and nitrate free), cheese, olives.
The thing is, once you start you may find that the things you think you were going to crave as snacks don't really tickle your fancy anymore, well that's what's happened to me anyway.....
Good luck, you will do wonderful!
