    Hi guys...

I feel like I have been overweight for ages. Not even by that much, but to the point where I felt like I needed to lose weight. I think that I am overweight not only because of eating the wrong foods, but because of being lazy about it. I have not really worked at it. But this time will be different!!!

I am currently living in New York, but will be going back to South Africa, my home country and would love to look my very best for when I see my family again. I have about 2 months and a week before I see them and although I might not have lost it all then, I would love to lose a lot of it by then. I want to lose about 30 pounds, maybe 35?

I have done Atkins once before, but I treated it as a diet, not a lifestyle and did only Induction. Now I know better. I also know that being fat is so much worse than going without a slice of cheesecake!

Does anybody have some tips for me on how to eat on Induction without becoming bored? I work and go to class at night, so I don't have too much time, but would like to do it right this time(and forever). How do I make this fun? ANY tips would be appreciated. Thanks so much!!!

    Re: new here...

Sorry, but Induction is the toughest part and it can get boring to some people but it is a necessary evil. If you have not yet bought the book and read it, I would suggest that you do so or at least read the Induction threads and stickies on this board.

By the way, cheesecake is one of the easiest recipes to adapt to low carbing-- I have one in my fridge now.

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

Hi! One of the easiest ways to make induction LESS boring is to move to OWL on week 3 Anyone can survive two weeks. Meanwhile, vary your veggies, both the salad veggies and the other. Incorporate allowed foods into your menu in a new way....instead of eating a hunk of cheese and a half cup of asparagus, try roasting your asparagus and melting Gorganzola on top. Next time, try a smoked Gouda....the flavor is definitely different! Same thing with your meats.....quite a difference between mesquite smoked chicken and chicken paprika!
      Bon Apetit!

Mmmm smoked gouda. I just loooove it. Yes variety is the key and there is lots that can be done from the beginning. But I never get tired of rib eye steak for some reason.

LOL. No camembert? I could never tell the difference between those two! If you like those mild creamy cheeses though, you might enjoy Port Salut. Firmer, but very mild and creamy.

So ummm.. I guess I should have responded to the first poster - Phatfatactress, I make a lot of different things. There are some really great websites and books out there so I end up always having a variety of foods. There's lowcarbluxury.com, and genaw.com/lowcarb/.

I should definitely try that port salut. I love the creamy, yummy delicious cheeses... I try to not overdo them now though, they totally are to blame for me stalling.

                  Re: new here...

Thanks everyone! I am now only on day 3 and so far so good! I have been eating a lot of eggs and meat, veggies and cheese. I can't wait to get the weight off!

I was walking to the train on the day I started (with a massive headache from quitting coffee!) and I almost felt like giving up, but then I felt the familiar terrible feeling when I saw myself in a shop window and was very aware of my thights rubbing against each other as I walked....that is not a way to live. I was thinking that if I can't do it this time, then WHEN will I do it?

So, I wrote a contract with myself...I signed it and dated it and I promised myself that I will stay on this diet...oops, I mean LIFESTYLE. I do wish that the atkins products were available all over, almost as easy to avoid as a mcdonalds or burger king....Maybe I should open up a chain of low carb stores across the world? As wall paper, I would have success stories from everybody who has kept at it.

I would love to hear some more success stories if anybody is willing to share!
