Hi. I found this board when researching the Atkins diet. I am, so glad I found it. I currently weigh 235 and would like to lose 50 or 60 pounds. My husband is in Iraq and I would love to look nice for him when I get home. Also, I want to lose for myself because I'm sick of being fat. I can't wait until I can shop with my thinner friends at the same store rather then them having to wait outside the fat girl store, while I try to find something that does not look like my grandma would wear it. I am not a big sweets or veg. eater. However, I was drinking coke like coke was going out of business. Chips and cheese dip was a favorite, too. I hate to cook. I don't mind frying up some eggs or meat, but when I have to mix or add ingredients I start to think of all the other things I could be doing that is more fun. So, my big obstacles are saying good bye to soda and cooking for myself rather then just grabbing a bag of chips. I look forward to getting to know everyone.

Re: Hello
Hi Cyndi and welcome! I think quite a few of us are looking forward to shopping at the "normal" stores rather than plus size shops! I hate it personally, so much so that my wardrobe is very small! lol. You will get there as long as you follow this WOL, come here for support if you need it. I was not a big veggie eater either and would have rathered grab convenience food because I didnt like cooking with what little time I had in a day. There is a good variety of veggies we are allowed and I would suggest to try to try as many as you can. I have found veggies I never even heard of that taste great! As for the cooking thing, start off cooking things that take minimal time. As you see how wonderfually delicious they taste, youll be a little more willing to try recipes that take a bit longer I bet. There is so much you can create with the foods on induction alone it is wonderful! Hubby and I are always combine our legal foods and coming up wiht things that taste absolutely divine. Good luck and once again..welcome!~Clara~

Re: Hello
Hi Clara it is nice to meet you. I think in a couple weeks when I get bored with what I'm eating now I will force myself to cook a real meal. I saw the cauliflower pizza thread, and I am going to give that a shot. My husband and I were web caming today, and he was drinking a soda. I told him he could never drink soda in front of me again or he was the meanest person on the planet...lol. I can't believe I have made it 3 days with no soda. I honestly did not think I would be able to do it. I was drinking 6 cans of coke a day- a 12 pack every 2 days. Most people wake up and have coffee. I woke up and had a can coke. I found some frozen broccoli with cheese in little trays at the grocery store. The package says 1 tray equals 7 carbs. I just had one of those trays with a steak, and it was not too bad. So who knows maybe I can make myself be a veggie girl.
Hope you have a great day!

Re: Hello
Youll be amazed at the veggies youll realize you like. However, I would caution against the frozen like broccoli and cheese trays...they have things added to thema nd thats when you get into hidden sugars and such. Make sure you read the labels carefully so you dont get a surprise! Great job with avoiding the soda! I have yet to try the cauliflower pizza, but it's on my list
