  • Newbie Diabetic!

I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone...
I'm a 40 year old male who lives in North Texas. I was diagnosed on 08/31/06 with insulin dependent Type II Diabetes (and Leukemia). I have had fair results in controlling my blood sugar, but I take 2000MG of Metformin/day and am on a sliding scale for Humulin 3 times a day and 20 units of Lantus before bed. For the most part I was not having to give myself either insulin the past 2 months just trying to regulate my blood sugar with the Metformin and diet, but it's been difficult. I started the Atkins Diabetes Revolution program today and already have had a significant change in lowering my blood sugar and so far today, they have been lower than they had in months (normally ranging from 150-190 and now today 80-112). I can't believe how following Atkins can already be changing it, but I guess it can! It's mind boggling how quickly changes can occur when I follow the correct diet.
Anyway, thanks for listening and I'm excited to join the board!

        Welcome Dave!
You will see great results with Atkins as it changes your whole lifestyle.
By the way, I like your quote from Will Durant. My version is - which is a car analogy go figure! - is: 'In life you need a big windshield to see where you are going, and an appropriately sized rear view mirror, to see where you have been!' Stupid I know but that's me.
