I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone...
I'm a 40 year old male who lives in North Texas. I was diagnosed on 08/31/06 with insulin dependent Type II Diabetes (and Leukemia). I have had fair results in controlling my blood sugar, but I take 2000MG of Metformin/day and am on a sliding scale for Humulin 3 times a day and 20 units of Lantus before bed. For the most part I was not having to give myself either insulin the past 2 months just trying to regulate my blood sugar with the Metformin and diet, but it's been difficult. I started the Atkins Diabetes Revolution program today and already have had a significant change in lowering my blood sugar and so far today, they have been lower than they had in months (normally ranging from 150-190 and now today 80-112). I can't believe how following Atkins can already be changing it, but I guess it can! It's mind boggling how quickly changes can occur when I follow the correct diet.
Anyway, thanks for listening and I'm excited to join the board!
