    Hi All,
I'm new to the Atkins WOE. I am on day 11 of the Induction phase; yes, I've been lurking a bit, but I am loving this WOE so far. I have been very encouraged and motivated by reading the very transparent and open posts on the board. I check in daily, sometimes multiple times a day, to see what's new and how others are doing. I really am thankful to have such a wealth of information to draw from, especially from those who have several years of experience with the WOL under their belts. It's nice to hear them cheering us on becasue they have been there and seen it through with success. I'm gonig to really try to listen closely to those seasoned vets!

Induction has been relatively easy, except for days 2-5 when I had the induction flu; but prayer from some faithful friends saw me through that phase. I'm not fully of energy and feeling good. I've lost 6 inches in 11 days. I'm going to stick with measuring my succes in inches vs. pounds; it's really much more accurate. So, anyway, I hope to get more involved on the board and I look forward to meeting some new Atkins buddies.

    Re: Atkins Newbie

Hi and welcome to the board. I'm a newbie too, and I agree with you - there is loads of inspiration and knowledge here.

Congrats on your inches lost. I'm not strong enough to keep away from the scales myself, but you are right - inches lost and how your clothes fit are perfect ways to measure your progress.

    Good Luck,

    Pat.

      H iPat,
Thanks for the welcome! Yes, it's hard to stick to the measurements only but I've learned over my dieting career that the real barometer for weight loss lies there. So, how long have you been doing Atkins?

        Re: Atkins Newbie

W-e-l-l... - how long I've been doing Atkins depends on how you look at it! My first attempt was about 4 years ago - I was a vegetarian then and got completely 'egged out.' I started induction in March this year (meat eater again now) - lost 21 lbs, then fell off the wagon, but managed to only gain 3 of those pounds back. I finally restarted two weeks ago (this is my 14th day today) and I mean finally. This is it as far as I'm concerned this time - no messing. I'm sick and tired of the 'low fat, high hunger' diet plans, so there's no turning back- going to stick with it and do it properly this time. So glad I found this site, as it is keeping me inspired, motivated and determined. I'm realistic enough to know that there will be times when I'm not so determined, and I'm sure logging in here and asking for some help will get me through it, as it seems to have helped so many others through their sticky moments.

Anyway, time for bed, will see you around the board!

        Good Luck

        Pat
