  • Hi, i'm new and would love any help and advice...

Hi everyone, my name is Pamela and i am 38 years old from Florida. I weigh 226 pounds, at my highest i was 365 pounds. I lost most of my
weight in the last 8 months with diet and excercise (low calorie diet).
After losing all that weight i have found that i stalled for a while. So i
recently started atkins in hopes of losing again. I started on June 28 of
this year. The first 2 days i lost 5 pounds, and since then i have only
lost about 5 more pounds. I am doing things by the book, i never
ever cheat, i drink plenty of water, i excercise 3 times a week at the
gym, i walk twice a week, and i know i should be losing more than this.
I am getting so bummed. I am still under the 20 grams of carbs a day.
I have not gone over that since i started. Here is a sample of how many
    calories i have a day:
    7/20 1178calories 13 carbs
    7/21 1201calories 19 carbs
    7/22 1131calories 18 carbs
    7/23 1167calories 19 carbs
    7/24 1334calories 12 carbs

Here is a few days sample of what i am eating:
breakfast: 2 oz baby link sausage
2 eggs fried in olive oil
    kraft 2%cheese slice

lunch: 2 cups lettuce, half of medium cucumber
2 tbsp hidden valley bacon ranch dressing
    2 chicken drumsticks baked

dinner: 1 thin cut pork chop fried in olive oil
    2 boiled eggs
    1 tbsp mayo

    another:
    breakfast: one serving canadian bacon
2 eggs fried in olive oil
    kraft 2%cheese slice

lunch: 2 cups lettuce, half cucumber,
2 tbsp hidden valley bacon ranch dressing
chicken tenders rolled in parmesan cheese and baked

    dinner: 1 cup cauliflower
hamburger patty one slice swiss cheese
    mayo

What am i doing wrong? Any advice would be appreciated, i still have
a lot of weight to lose. Thank you so much ... Pamela

Hi Pamela! Congrats on all the weight loss. I am fairly new around here but I noticed that even though your menu looks like you are getting a lot to eat your daily calorie intake is pretty low. With your awesome exercise habits and your current weight you probably need more calories to keep losing weight. Also, you might want to spread out the carbs instead of eating them all at one sitting.

      Good luck!

If I'm reading your post right, you've lost over 150 pounds in about 9 months. That's fantastic. I would sit back and eat healthy (which is this WOE in my book!) and not worry about how much the scale moves for a little bit. Instead focus on how far you've come in such a short time. While you're at it, consider how long it took to put 150 pounds on to your body (or how long you've been carrying it around) and compare that to how quick you've shed it. My guess is it's falling off faster than it went on and that is recent to celebrate -- not to get discouraged over a week or two with small to no loss! Atkins is meant to be a lifetime eating plan -- if you decide to go back to high carb foods in the future, odds are you will gain the weight back. If you're on this WOE for life, then what's the rush? Take a break to smell the roses (and the bacon and the steak and the sauteed vegetables). Welcome to ADBB -- I think you'll do great with just a 1/2 cup of patience.

          Pamela-
First, give yourself a hug for your success!
Sugarsack is right about your good progress.
From where I sit Eric is very wise and hits it right on this time again. Celebrate your success. Plus:
          > As you get closer to your goal weight you will not lose as fast. Hang in there, time will tell.
          > Tell us about your exercise program. Are you doing more intense or longer work outs? The body adjusts so you need to increase your exercise. Are you in the Challenges? I've found them very motivating. No way would I be doing as much without the Challenges.
          > Sometimes changes in exercise help. Add something new that takes you to the next level. If walking, jog a bit, etc.
          > Pamela it's not my business, but check your measurements. You are likely getting smaller and that is important.
          > Most importantly, how are you feeling? Weight loss is a prime goal, but not the only thing. If you are feeling better, that is vitally important. A stronger you will be able to conquer any challenge ahead. Believe it because it's true.
Lori makes a good point. I have been spreading out the carbs and trying to eat my dinner before going to work out at the gym at 6 pm. Makes sense so you burn the carbs before they are stored.
Keep talking about your progress and what ever you want to talk about.
