  • Introducing Myself

Hi Everyone! I'm so glad I found this site! What a great source of support and encouragement. A little about myself: I'm 45 years old and used to be quite a fitness fanatic. Well, that was back in my 20's, actually! I had two kids and then focused on my career for a while. Which leaves me at my current weight of around...this is embarrassing...250 lbs. or so at 5'6"!!!

Doctors telling me I'm obese, breathlessness, tiredness, etc. There's a Garth Brooks song entitled "I'm Much Too Young to Feel This Damn Old" (I'm not much of a country music fan, but this title sums it up for me!). I'd like to maybe start dating again. I have social anxiety disorder and take meds. I KNOW that being so fat also really affects my self-confidence! I basically have NO social life, and spend too much time alone at home eating. Today I feel really depressed and lonely.

Well, this is my 2nd day of the induction. I'm also getting out and walking each day. I know it will take a long time, but I'd like to lose 100 lbs. and weigh 150; that's not too much to ask, is it?

I'm definately motivated now, so thanks for being here and I'll look forward to posting here.

Hi Laurie! You've come to the right place, and no, 100 pounds is not too much to ask. Follow the plan as the good doctor wrote it and you'll watch yourself melt.
Just a suggestion: it's easiest the first time around, so make the first time your last too. Some of us *blush* learned that the hard way!

290 lbs. on 11/02/07 Goal: 145 lbs. or size 14 whichever comes first!
