  • Hello all!

Hello all, I started Atkins July 7, 2008. I have no idea what my starting weight was but I have a good idea. Here is how I came about starting Atkins.

I have to tell you that I am a big guy. I am 5' 11" and when I had my last physical("June 18, 2008") I weighed roughly 350(I say roughly cause that is all the higher there scale went). But for being big guy I never felt that I was in bad health. I have normal blood pressure my cholesterol is always around 190 - 210 and I have no physical ailments that prevent me from going on in my daily life. I just hate the way I look, and for my job I have to travel a great deal which means getting on and off planes a lot. Planes make me nervous, up until now I have not had to ask for a seatbelt extension but it has been real close. And with my new all time high weight I think I would have had too this next trip out("Sept 24, 2008").

So at the end of June my wife came to me and told me she wanted to lose 30 lbs and she was going to go on Atkins so I said I am in. And we set our start date for July 7, 2008. We had done Atkins before so we new all the induction foods so July 7th we went shopping and got all our foods we would need for the first week.

Everything is going great so far. I am down to 321(on a home scale). I am doing extended induction just because I have alot more weight to lose. My goal weight is 225 so I have a long ways to go and I have not gotten bored with the foods yet as a matter of fact I have had zero cravings.

That is my story hope to stick with it this time....

    Thanks
    Dan

How great that you are doing it together. Easier to keep strong that way. Just make sure to keep each other up.

Hey Dan - welcome and congrats on a what sounds like a good start. Next time you go to the doctor, they'll be able to weigh you - I know from experience that that's an important milestone! Keep up the good work.

            Re: Hello all!

Yeah when we do our physicals for work they bring in a doctor and the equipment to do quick physicals. So the only scale they brought was a doctor scale but they didn't have the weight to make it go to higher weights so it only went to 350.
