Hi, I'm Lorna
I am a former "Atkins'er" who needs to come back! I did a stint on the Atkins diet about 13 years ago, and I lost 45 pounds, and I never felt better! Since then, I have gained it all back plus some, being a couch potato and all!
I actually just stumbled on this site, and I am thrilled that it is here (Thanks Tom!) There was nothing like this when I dieted before!
Anyway, I'm a "mature" gal that needs to lose about a hundred pounds. Currently, (well, last time I was weighed, at the Doc's) I was 240. I had gained 8 pounds in three months. That hasn't happened in a year, so I am a little shocked.
So, my current BMI is 39.6, and I'm 5'-5.5". I haven't "shrunk" yet (WooHoo), but the Doc has me on Byetta. Anyone else here on that drug? I wonder if there are any "ill" effects? So, effectively, I am morbidly obese... which sounds scary, but other wise in good health, (except for maybe the hiatal hernia/nexium) I know that most of the health probs coming in the future can be averted if I get going on this.
At my lightest adult weight, I was 117. That was a lifetime ago, in my mid 20's, and when I got married, at 30, I weighed 126. My goal weight is 140, or thereabouts, cuz I really don't think I can maintain 125 or 130 realistically. I currently wear a size 20/22, and I would like to get to 10/12 again. (117 lbs. is/was an 8 for me) I would like to lose about 2 lbs. a week, on average, which would get me to goal in about a year.... interestingly, the last time I did Atkins, I lost the 45 lbs. in about 40 days. I remember because it was the season of lent, and I started on "fat Tuesday"!
Anyway, good to be here, and thanks, Tom, for being an inspiration to us all!
