  • I'm new to this forum

Hi everyone. I am new to this forum but not to Atkins. This is my second major attempt at losing some weight. I lost a lot a few years back, but put some back on...not all. I got careless. I don't have too much to lose. I've lost 8 pounds in 6 weeks and would like to lose another 10. I went through a major slowdown and now all of a sudden I've lost 3. Yes. I have been reading so much info on this diet. It's the only one that works for me. My only problem is that I am afraid to eat any carbs for fear of losing control. I guess I need to get over that. I am glad that I finally registered and can't wait to read all of your stories and questions...answers.

OK. Went out to eat tonight. Had a chicken salad. Now I am stressing about the carrots in it. Oh My. Are carrots that bad?

hmmm I don't remember seeing carrots on the list- they're quite starchy and sweet aren't they so they're probably not allowed. but hey, don't let that worry you too much - just keep going and I'm sure it'll be ok. I only realised yesterday that I'd accidentally bought the 'sugar' version of a flavoured water drink we get here in the UK (the sugar and non-sugar bottles are almost identical!) So I'd been merrily drinking large glasses of the stuff which has 5% sugar in it! ARGH. But I've stayed in ketosis all the way through it and last time I weighed had lost 5lb in 4 days - so it doesn't appear to have stalled me (fingers crossed).

So basically I'm saying learn from your errors as you go along but don't stress about them!

            Good luck

Welcome to the board. Rock chic is right about the carrots. Keep pressing on and chalk it up as an OOPS! I had read in Dr. Atkins book that when we make a mistake its not supposed to stop our progress just stall it. The most it will stall it for is 3 days and then we go back into ketosis, however exercise can shorten that period of time even more. Put a smile on and I look forward to reading that you lost that last 10 pounds!
