Hi everyone! Just call me doodette ... I'm a middle-aged, retired gal from Florida ... it's so hot here I was hoping if I just stood in the sun long enough, the fat would, you know, kind of melt off. No such luck
... anyway, I've been familiar with Atkins for years but have never made a commitment to begin the program until last Friday, Aug. 1. "Today's the day!" I said to my 187 lb. self. "Today is the first day of the rest of your life."
Some background: I was a really, really, REALLY skinny kid (100 lbs. at 5'6" at high school graduation); gained the "freshman 15" during college; stayed slender until I hit the magical 4-0, when my metabolism came to a screaming halt
. It's been a downhill battle ever since, despite regular walking and repeated attempts to lose the lard. And now, post-menopause, I'm gaining like nobody's business. My mother, at her heaviest, weighed 250 ... I don't wanna go there!
There's also the cholesterol issue ... I have that nasty inherited kind where it stays high no matter what you eat ... lovely
; so I'm on pravastatin and probably will be for life.
Anyhoo, sorry to babble ... looking forward to reading everyone else's stories!
Hard boiled egg, anyone?
