  • Another Newbie!

    Hi everyone,

I'm Tasha - I live in the Northwest of England. I'm new to the board and embarking on the Atkins Plan for the second time - although I only flirted with it really the first time - many moons ago when I only needed to lose 14 lbs - which I did quite easily at the time.

Over the last few years probably due in part to middle age spread, further compounded by office work and the many hours I have spent sat in front of this computer studying to be an accountant, I have gone from a size 10 to size 14 - I weighed in at 11 Stones 3 on the 2/8/08 - I'm bigger now than when I gave birth to my second child!

I'm not sure how easily the weight will come off this time round - I have lost about 10lbs over the last 3 months on an alternative plan - although following a holiday a little has crept back on which has prompted me to get strict and take control.

Weigh in yesterday was promising -3lbs (although most of it will be water)Plus I've been Ketostix testing and found I had moved another shade in the right direction!

I'm not going to fall into the trap of jumping on and off the scales all day - but I'll keep you posted as to how I'm getting on.

Thank you - I wish you all the best too. There is so much support and inspiration available on this board it is fantastic!

It's quite exciting isn't it - knowing that you are guaranteed impressive results at a rapid rate providing you stick to the rules.

Is it your first time on the plan?

I did the diet a few years ago, lost lbs, but didn't really know what to do besides the book. The book is great, but there's nothing like talking to people that's been threw it all. I found this site online searching for Atkins forums and there it was. I was going to start back in May/June 08, but I wasn't ready to commit. I told myself...I"M DOING IT THIS TIME! It works great, you just need to stick to it and you'll see results. There was a family friend we have that was on the diet...we haven't seen her over a year. We bumped into her in the mall and I didn't even know that was her! She told me she was doing Atkins and lost over 100 lbs in about a year. I want to be that next story! So, here I am!

          Re: Another Newbie!

I stumbled across the board whilst searching for recipes with my mum on Sunday afternoon (I'm encouraging her to follow the plan too).

What do you think made you deviate from the plan last time? Was it boredom or did you reach your goal and then lose focus over time?

I think I just got a little complacent and then wrapped up in study - I had no time to do anything like going out etc so I think I replaced social contact with my friends with food - lots of takeaways delivered - to the door!

I really used to enjoy cooking - I'm hoping sticking to the plan will inspire me to be creative with food again

            Re: Another Newbie!

I guess what made me fall off the wagon was a few things. (1) No support! I had support at the start from my family, but later I just got bored (2) I fell left out when others were always eating good stuff. Hey, I'm Italian and mexican...what kind of food do you expect at those parties! lol (3) Lack of knowledge! I never knew sites like these were available. I feel so much better with all the success stories and advice on here!.

            We'll see this time around

I'm sure you'll succeed with the support available here! Have you been good so far - I have stuck to the plan for the last 5 days! I've been eating chicken and lamb mainly with a little salad. Last night I cooked diced chicken seasoned with cayenne pepper with canned tomatoes - it made a lovely spicy sauce, I also grilled some onions and peppers on my George Foreman and had a little steamed cauliflower - mmmm! I'm certainly seeing results - I weighed in at 150 lbs today - 7 lbs down - 24 to go. I hope your seeing encouraging results
