    Hi, I'm Shontoya. This is not my first time attempting the Atkin's diet, but it is my first time attempting it with the support of others. The first time I attempted this diet I lost 38lbs., but that was far from my goal. My family often teased me about the way I was eating and simply did not understand that I needed to make this change in my life. I started (the first time) on October 2, 2007 and, finally giving in to my families' harsh comments quit in mid-April 2008. It has been nearly four months and i have gained a total of 13lbs. back. I don't take it lightly and this time I'm fighting back.
    Yesterday, (08/08/0, I re-dedicated myself to this lifestyle and have every intention of sticking to it for the rest of my life. Atkin's diet has proved to be the best diet for me, so I won't turn my back on the many successes I can accomplish with it...wish me luck and thx for allowing me to join this community

    Hello, Shontoya! Welcome to the boards! Yes, this site will help alot because everyone here is SO supportive. There is so much here and in Dr.Atkins' book about getting that support from your family and friends...and if you cannot, at least learning how to rebut it and learn to cope with it. It's imperative that we insist on it for OUR health. No one can tell you what to put in your mouth so it's up to us to prepare for those challenges ahead of time...when going to others' homes and to restaurants.

    I wish you the best and please keep coming back for answers, support, tips and recipes!! This is the beginning of my 2nd week of induction. My hubby is doing it with me and he's down about 8 lbs and I'm down 4, but moreso in inches for me since I started swimming 25 laps daily so I think I am gaining muscle. My clothes are looser but I haven't remeasured yet.

        Do it for you. Hopefully your family will become more supportive as they see how you change. But if they don't keep your focus. You are the one in control of yourself. Good luck Shontoya. Look forward to reading more of your posts.
