Man actually, 46 6'2'' feeling heavy! and in the North East of Scotland. This is my second attempt at the Atkin's. The first time 6 year's ago (good lord, was it that long ago!) i lost 5 stone and i hadn't felt so good in year's both mentally and physically.
Along came Christmas, and after doing so well i thought i would treat myself......big mistake!. 3 month's of controlling some of the wildest craving's man has ever known got shot clean out the window.
Anyway the first week has passed, it's going well and in the 'pink'. I'm determined to make it work this time. Five month's ago i gave up smoking and i found that quite a big hurdle. Now, feeling satisfied that i no longer need the evil weed it's time to tackle the weight again.
So........watch this space

Thanks Bob for telling us about yourself! The North East of Scotland sounds wonderful! It's so beautiful up there...(sighs with envy).Originally posted by Swordfish View PostHi sallyseachange,

Congrats on having been successful on Atkins once already... and kudos to you for hopping back on the wagon!
You did it once, you can do it again... and this time, I bet you'll make it work for the duration!
Oh, and giving up the 'evil weed' is a truly major feat.
Happy losing!Before and after:

Re: Hello to you all
One thing that helped me, once I hit maintenance, was to find good substitutions for certain carb dense foods... though strangely, once you have the mental reassurance of knowing there's something that hits the spot without actually being too carby, you gradually find you need that substitute food less and less.
You can do it!! (We'll help!)

Re: Hello to you all
I'm doing not bad at the moment, i haven't had much of an appetite the last few day's. Mind you, my Wife came in with a Chinese takeaway for herself and the kid's yesterday......that certainly got my mouth watering.Originally posted by sallyseachange View PostOne thing that helped me, once I hit maintenance, was to find good substitutions for certain carb dense foods... though strangely, once you have the mental reassurance of knowing there's something that hits the spot without actually being too carby, you gradually find you need that substitute food less and less.

I had to leave the room.
I agree, the mental reassurance bit, is the trick ( i must remember to knock up another jelly
). A bit like when i stopped smoking, there was alway's a ciggy handy, just incase i felt like i had to smoke it (but i didn't)
