Hello all. Been lurking here awhile, reading and getting recipes. I'm kinda leery of bulliten boards but wanted to get into your challenges and participate more, so here I am.
I did Atkins 7 years ago, lost 30 pounds, started dating someone and followed them back into the land of sugar, carbs, etc. I'm sure you get the picture. Last month I weighed and was totally heartsick to find at 5' tall that I was 220 pounds.
Finally bit the bullet and went back on Atkins August 9, 2008. When I weighed yesterday after the first week, I'd dropped 10 pounds. I thought the scales were lying, but I know that when a person is as morbidly obese as I am, the beginning weight will come off pretty fast if you stick with it and get lots of exercise.
Figuring out what I could do for exercise and not kill my knees and etc at my weight, I'm walking (slowly) a mile a day, and swimming as often as possible. I also put a TV and our old vcr in my bedroom away from all eyes
and found my old Richard Simmons low-impact video tapes... blast from the past, it's fun and challenging.
Don't know how much I'll be posting here, but I'll sure keep on reading. I'm leery of on-line forums and also one of my downfalls was spending waaaaay too much time in front of the computer (yes, I confess, I'm into first person shooter games, Call of Duty United Offensive anyone?).
Thanks for this great board, loving the recipes and the encouraging words. Now, I'll go pick out a challenge and sign up, woot!
