  • I don't know how y'all do it!

Hi everyone. I'm checking in because I got a reminder in my email asking me how I'm doing on my Atkins diet. I had to laugh.

I have about 55 lbs to lose, I'm insulin resistant (pre-diabetic) and I NEED to give up carbs. But I have the hardest time. I have recently read the book The Carbohydrate Addict's diet and although I know reading it helped me and motivated me - reminding me why carbs are bad - I still ended up "throwing in the towel" recently (like I do on a regular basis) because I can't stop myself from giving in to temptation, like every couple of weeks!!

I GET Atkins, I just don't get the "lifestyle" and how to stick to it forever. I have lost as much as 17 lbs and been very excited and then I would cheat and give up.

My problem really is, I just don't know what to eat. Yes, I have the Atkins cookbook but things in there just don't seem practical for me. I need things that are simple and more variety!

Like breakfast for example... WHAT ON EARTH do those of you who stick with this for years and years eat for breakfast? I'm so tired of turkey bacon and egg beaters I could puke! What else is there to eat? Sometimes I just need a WAFFLE! LOL

I feel like if I could get some new ideas and keep some acceptable foods on hand during times of weakness, I might have half a chance to stick to it but I need help figuring out how to do that!

Any help anyone could give me will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

Hi DDBoles, sounds like you are sincere but lack knowing what you can and can not eat. You really need to read the Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution book. This is the foundation for your healthy, slim, body. Once you know what you can eat it is easy to put together a menu that you like. Take waffles for example, you could make something similar with a few different ingredients. Great recipes can be found at Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Home
After familiarizing yourself with the book, you will be able to eat anywhere, practically. Low carb is not denying yourself of food, but finding out what food is good for you. You will eat better, feel better, and look better.

fat4now shared a great recipe site with you~~~check it out. True this is not an easy lifestyle to begin with but with persistance & creativity it can be achieved. You don't have to eat eggs & bacon everyday. Make a breakfast quiche, eat last nights left overs etc...There are recipes here on ADBB~~check out that forum.

      Good luck!
