  • Diet Virgin

Hi all. My name is Stephanie.
Not only am I new to the board, I am fairly new to diets. I am one of those that has always been overweight and I do mean always.
I was never the biggest kid in class, but ran a close 3rd or 4th. My whole adult life (except for a small stint of weight loss around 93) I have weighed somewhere around 200.
I just finally woke up and decided that being only 3 short years from 40 that I needed to make some changes and I am starting here.
I am only on my 3rd day of Induction and so far so good. I have been a bit tired, but figure that is the way my body is saying "where the heck is all that sugar and bread?!?!".
I am hoping that this will work well for me with the results I desire. I could lie and say that I don't want to weigh 120 lbs for once in my life, but I think this would be unrealistic for me.
I have set my goal for somewhere between 140 and 145. At the very least, I will have a decent weight for my height and a normal BMI.
I am so glad to find this board here, as I expect I will need much support starting this fresh out of the box, so to speak.
So, if anyone has any suggestions for me or cautions, please please allow them whenever possible.
I will keep everyone updated with my progress, but have promised myself to track only weekly versus daily.
Can't wait to hear from those of you who are dealing with the same things I am currently and those of you who have been there and done that.
    Thanks for letting me participate!
    Stephanie

    Hallo Stephanie. Welcome.
Sounds like you are having induction flue there. It will pass and you will be feeling better soon.
So what made you chose Atkins when you decided on a life style change?

      Re: Diet Virgin

Thank you for the welcome Liv! I chose Atkins because my husband's co workers are currently about 5 months in each and are having huge success. I figured with first hand accounts like that, who could say it doesn't work as long as you do it. It convinced my husband (who has never dieted either in the past 18 yrs we've been together) to bite the bullet also.
My biggest concern with their loss compared to my hopeful future loss is that they are both men. I wonder if you know if Atkins works as other diets do as far as the men usually lose quicker than women thing? Just a curiosity.
      Thanks again for the welcome!

        Re: Diet Virgin

Yeah - unfortunately that is true - men tend to have a diet advantage on Atkins as well. But hey - if you check the celebration forum you will see that there are plenty of women that have lost loads of weight too.
How great that your husband is with you. I am still working on mine.
