Thanks Janie! How's it going Theresa?
I feel like a completely different woman aswell!
Yes, you all can do this! Take one day at a time, and put your best Atkins foot forward everyday. Remember, this isn't a diet, it's a Lifestyle. It's not a race either. It takes time to make lifestyle changes. Patience is all part of the process! You're changing eating habbits for life! You are going to become the healthiest that you've ever been on the Atkins plan. Follow the plan 100% and you'll get 100% results.
Not only will you lose the weight but you will become healthy internally, just as, if not, more important! Good health starts internally! Weightloss is only one of the fantastic benifits of being in the Atkins Lifestyle!
One of the tools that benefited my weightloss was using the GI (Glycemic Index) to choose foods lowest on the GI off of each rung.
Dr. Atkins explains the GI on page78-84, 92 DANDR. He describes it as a "Beautiful Tool". It certainly is for me. 48 days into Extended Induction my Type-2 Dibetes disappeared, never to return again. I lost 100 pounds in ten months. I noticed that choosing foods from the GI kept my glucose levels at a steady level without any spikes and dives. Nice and steady! So important for weightloss. I didn't eat fruit for a year. I stayed mainly at Rung 3.
Here's a link that Jimmie gave me to help choose foods lower on the GI. It's easy to do. Just go over your allowed foods on your list on page 125, 126 DANDR and choose those foods lower on the GI. For example- yellow onions are higher on the GI, leeks and green onions are lower than the other onions allowed. So those are the types of onions I chose. Also, tomatoes are higher on the GI than veggies on the list so I stayed away from them for quite some time.
Table 1. Glycemic Load Values For All Food Types
Glycemic Load of Carb Foods - GI in Food Serving
Also you can go to www.glycemicindex.com to learn more about the GI and GL (glycemic load). I really believe in this tool to help with your glucose level to stay nice and steady and to benifit weightloss. You don't have to be Diabetic for this tool to work. Try it, what do you have to lose, except POUNDS.
Wishing all of you the best of health and lite.
      Sincerely, Sherri

Re: Here I go again! and looking for an"Atkins buddy"

Hey everybody! How's it going? I want to say that I am already feeling a difference. My tummy always felt like it was tied in knots and that feeling is absent and I am so happy about that!! I did have a terrible headache last night but I know my body is trying to adjust to the changes it is beginning to go through. I have joined the "Weigh/No Way" challenge so I won't weigh in again until Sept 13. That is tough for me, I like to jump on the scales first thing in the morning. That's ok though, maybe I will have a pleasant surprise when I weigh on the 13th.
I hope all is well with everyone and rememer your goals of why you want this.
I have to go check on progress of the power company cutting up a huge oak tree in our front yard that fell early this morning, it had the option of falling across my house and demolishing my living room or falling up hill across the power lines. Thank you Lord for making it fall up hill!!!! We have lots of wind and rain from Hurricane Gustov. I can't wait to see the sun again!

Best wishes, faith, and belief to you all.
            Theresa

Re: Here I go again! and looking for an"Atkins buddy"

Bloomoon- Do you have room for one more? I too have 80 lbs. to get rid of. I am on my second day of induction. (the second time around)
My stats are a little off right now, but they are pretty close. I refused to get on the scale this time around. I have a pretty good idea of what I weigh & just want to get rid of it. I made a decision to weigh myself at the end of my induction. That means my first weigh in will be on the 15th of Sept. Pretty close to your 09/13 goal.

Sherri- you are a wonder. I look at you and I am simply amazed by your transformation. Not only did you loose the weight I think you gained 15 years on your appearance. You look so young now compaired to your earlier pictures. Also I to appreciate all of the info you have blessed us with. Even though we read and read and read... it is nice to know exactly what worked for someone else. Thank you.

Hey Shuana....glad to have ya! We are all here for each other and we can do it. And thank goodness for Sherri and the others that have been around the block. They are life savers!! Doesn't Sherri's weight loss fit her so well...she does look much younger!!
I am working right now, but if I am not around for a while our power is out, hopefully it will be back on soon.

I hear that there are three more hurricanes headed our way. You better buckle down. Maybe you will get lucky and they will stay on the east coast. I am not sure how you guys do it year after year. On the other hand people dont understand how I could freeze at -40 every winter either.

Day three is going well. I dont have any issues that I can think of. I have been so clear headed the last two days. I get up in the morning with a much better attitude and my fingers are skinny again. I must have been retaining a ton of water.

I am at work also today. That is why I have the opportunity to get on the boards and bug everyone. I am the receptionist here and I dont think the phone has range in the last hour.

I am so greatful to everyone as well. It is nice to see the pictures on the site and know that weight loss is not just a figment of my imagination. People have lost tons of weight by going low carb. It is a way to live and live well.

Hope you have have a great day. As well as everyone else.

Hey guys! I'm back! Whew! The power is back on and the sun was out today. It was soooo nice. Boy, I sure take a lot of things for granted! We don't usually get that much rain from hurricanes....some but not that much. In the last few days nothing has come easy. But I have done ok.
Hi Laura....glad to have you. Hey Shauna, I think the 80 lb. club is perfect!! I hope all is well in the house of Atkins!
