  • Atkins old-timer here

I'm 56, female, medically-retired law enforcement and work at home on the computer as a website designer, plus have an online store and sell on Ebay as well.

I've been falling back on the Atkins way of eating since the 70's. It's the only way I can lose weight without being hungry all the time, plus my cholesterol, bp and blood sugars are perfect when I eat high protien. I'm type O blood and some doctors feel the Atkins diet is perfect for O's. I have also discovered I am a sugar-addict, so if I eat anything such as cake, chocolate, ice cream, etc... it seems like I am sucked into a sugar-eating binge for months and months and it takes almost an act of God to get me off the sugar merry-go-round. In the meantime, while I'm on the sugar-binge, I gain 10, 15, 20 lbs and feel miserable. Starting Monday, I'm back to Atkins, but am going to try to stay on it fulltime by THINKING before I put that sweet object in my mouth. I am so sick and tired of being sick and tired and I'm also fed up with looking at my sugar-fat self in the mirror. I wish I knew why I did this...that would be half the battle! Monday is my day! It was so much easier when I worked a regular job since I didn't drive around on my beat with a refrigerator in my back seat! Now it's just in the next room! I'm going to take what Dr. Phil says to heart.."You can't eat what you don't have." I'm cleaning that thing out this weekend!

    Hi, Marilyn

    Welcome to ADBB!

I think it's a great idea to clean out the "carbage". It's just so tempting to eat it when it's right next to you. Finding this board will help you, as well. In case you haven't seen it yet, I'm going to give you a link to a "sticky" at the top of this forum. It contains lots of info that will help you with this way of eating, and tips for navigating the board. Here it is: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...-new-read.html

    Best of luck to you!

      Welcome Marilyn-

Good idea to 'go cold turkey' on the sweets. If you follow Mitzi you will be alright.

Hi Marilyn Welcome aboard I have the same issues with the sweets merry-go-round. Fortunately, the fake ones don;t have that affect on me.
Good luck on your next leg of the Atkins Journey

Thank you Sugar! Yes I'm on this thing all day and most of the evening so it's so easy to real quicklike check in here. I do get work done too, but it's nice to read about the trials and tribulations of everyone that is dealing with weight issues. I'm glad I found this board.
