    Hi all,

I'm excited to be here, back on the Atkins Bandwagon. A little weight history with me....

I was always a chubby kid. In 10th grade I lost down to 120lbs and kept that off, even after the birth of my first child until I was around 26 after the birth of my second child.

Since then I have been bouncing between 150 and 219 - yes 219!!! OMG!!! I stayed between 190 and 150 for about 10 more years, between 26 & 34. When I was 34 I started Atkins and lost to 148 which I kept off for 3 or 4 years. It was around that time I started having some female trouble and by the time I went in for my hysterctomy 2 years ago now, I had ballooned up to 219!!

After my surgery I started Quick Weight Loss Centers which cost me a couple grand, a COMPLETE waste of money!!! I got down to 184 and quit because the ladies were mean to me and yes, I mean - MEAN!! My 17 year old daughter had recently informed us she was pregnant and I was really, really fighting seeking comfort in food. Each time I went to weigh in, someone else would see me and make me re-tell my story, all in an open room for anyone to hear. I did not handle the pregnancy well and flat quit eating right at first. I wasn't gaining but wasn't logging all my foods, I was a walking zombie for a week or so and after making me repeat my story yet again, they scolded me loudly for not recording my foods.

Shortly after that, I saved up my daily carb allowance to eat 1/2 cup of brown rice at dinner as opposed to 2 servings of 1/4 cup that day, the representative loudly scolded me saying, "You can't do that, you can NOT do that!" Sheesh - okay - just tell me lady!! The last straw was when I asked advice for our upcoming vacation to California and what to eat at Disney and Universal. The rep there said that they have restraunts at the parks. Um, yea....at $30-$40 a person, we were taking a group of six. We're all about the grab as you go hot dogs (which on Atkins, would have been FINE!). Anyway, she just acted horrified and said that she tells waiters, etc that it is important to her health that her food be prepared a certain way and that if they couldn't accomodate her needs she would eat elsewhere. Ya - right - I'm going to uproot a table of 8 (grandparents + us) because they cook with butter. Needless to say - that was my last visit.

After that I continued to lose on my own, stress mainly I'm sure and as of last summer this time I was down to 169.

This summer I am back to 217.6 - why? I have NO idea other than poor food choices and lack of exercise. How I gained that much in a year, I have no idea. I am 41 now, a new grandmother and I have GOT to beat this thing FOREVER, for me, for my husband, for my kids and for my beautiful little grandbaby who after all the stress is the light of my life. I want to run and play with her and the other little grandbabies who are yet to be but loved already!!! I am SICK AND TIRED of being SICK AND TIRED!!

So, a new leaf. A fresh beginning! I am starting tomorrow!!!

    I'm also keeping a journal here ( http://shrinkingdiva67.blogspot.com)

During my last venture with atkins, mentioned above, I did GREAT however, I could have done better by healthier habbits (ie: cutting the fat off the pork) so this time I'll try the same plan with even healthier choices!!

One day at a time right?

That being said - what is your ABSOLUTE favorite induction recipe & snack?

    Re: Trying Again

    Hi
    Welcome to ADBB.

Sounds like you are ready to do it.
I was just going to say that: PORK FAT RULES. Didn't you know?
On a more serious note. We do want to eat fats on Atkins. It is what makes us full and keeps us from eating too much.
Also if you cut out fat, you will end up eating too much protein and protein can be turned into sugars. I think on Atkins most we get around 60-70% of all our calories from fat.

Hi I agree with Liv....pork fat rules Nothing like a slow raosted butt roast, fat n all! However, if the saturated fat scares ya, just make sure you are getting about 65% fat from sources you are comfortable with. Happy Atkins journey !

290 lbs. on 11/02/07 Goal: 145 lbs. or size 14 whichever comes first!
